Why this job matters

The key purpose of this pivotal role is to lead a commercial Security Portfolio Pricing team to support BT Security’s revenue growth ambitions before 2030 and beyond. Alongside several other responsibilities, this role will own Pricing and Commercial strategies for the BT Security Managed Services portfolio ensuring that they achieve optimum balance of delivering margin and offering competitive pricing in the marketplace.

What you’ll be doing

  • Portfolio Pricing – owns pricing models for BT Security Mgd Services ensuring that they achieve optimum balance of delivering margin and offering competitive pricing in the marketplace.
  • Owns standardisation of approach for product commercial tools, making processes simpler for end users.
  • Proactively encourages secure solutions and owns combined cross-portfolio cost simplification, with bundles across controls, threat management and eagle-i ; with a well-defined commercial strategy enabling the sale of more multi-product solutions.
  • Leads collaboration with wider Business portfolio teams to also look at commercial opportunities for secure connectivity bundling and beyond.
  • Runs pilot schemes to identify and drive success, moving to standard adoption if successful.
  • Manages new tool and tactical innovation implementation to enhance competitive pricing process for improved performance, price to win analysis, and win probability.
  • Manages competitive pricing functions, staff and activities for developing and presenting complex competitive pricing analyses for large, strategic, cross-sector opportunities.
  • Help secure re-signs with minimal price downs and win net new deals forecast.
  • Manages cost base, working with Finance and core product team to ensure portfolio cost base is accurate with understood drivers & unit pricing.
  • Tracks and ensures all security portfolio benefits from and leverages economies of scale.
  • Works closely with Sales and Operations to validate pricing and ensure products delivers planned incremental revenue and reduced costs.
  • Manages the development of a competitive pricing database, encouraging continual growth of the knowledge repository.
  • 360 commercial performance tracking, to understand true opportunities for individual products and the impact on revenues vs targets.
  • Establishes best practice methods and directly involved in upskilling portfolio teams to optimise commercial management of their products.

Skills and Experience

  • Data-driven, using customer insights, competitive assessments, and quantitative analysis to build business cases and data driven support for pricing recommendations and higher portfolio adoption.
  • Commercially savvy, operating as an expert in multiple areas of pricing strategy, articulating recommendations through customer segmentation, price discovery, experimentation, scaling costs, modelling, and ROI analysis.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills, required to build close relationships across product community and influence Finance, Sales, and Portfolio Teams to achieve commercial outcomes. Plus, ability to build and own client and stakeholder relationships at exec levels (e.g. Director and above).
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to break down, translate and present complex commercial models in a way which is simple and easy for stakeholders to consume, understand and take action against.
  • Team leadership, focused on driving a high performing, engaged and inclusive team who continually strive for professional improvement and personal development.
  • Experience you would be expected to have
  • Understands the managed security services market and can identify varying commercial strategies to go to market, including strategic areas to bundle and create solution-based pricing strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of BT’s Business and how units work together to measure and transfer costs, inc. knowledge of pricing governance and intra business trading.
  • Understands the construct of managed security services and technical outputs which ultimately make up commercial model.
  • Strong background in product & commercial management including pricing approval, business case approval, budgeting and commercial modelling.
  • Strong understanding of how to define, drive and implement cyber security pricing strategies for BT’s suite of managed security services and products.
  • Strong data analysis experience, to help inform innovative and competitive pricing solutions in marketplace.
  • Proven stakeholder management and strong relationship building skills.
