Job Title: Senior Manager, Data Design and Engineering

Location: Ipswich, London, Bristol

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you may be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

BT Global Secure Solutions (GSS) is a unit within Corporate and Public Sector, a branch of BT Business. The Global Obligations team within GSS provides capability to enable BT to discharge its Investigatory Powers obligations in the UK and across the Globe

The role is accountable for:

  • Developing Technical strategy for UK fixed and mobile CD and DR capabilities to meet BT’s Investigatory Powers Act (IPA) obligations in the UK.
  • Providing systems to enable BT to meet its UK disclosure and DR obligations cost effectively and with appropriate security.
  • Relationship management of Government, supplier, and internal stakeholders to meet the above.

What you’ll do:

  • Setting and delivering the strategy of the Data Design and Engineering team, identifying and delivering process improvements to ensure efficient and effective meeting of legislative obligations.
  • The direct leadership and development of 11 employees
  • Identifying, recording and prioritising all new UK Investigatory Powers CD and DR capability requirements, and owning and maintaining a clear delivery roadmap;
  • Ownership of CD and DR system designs for obligatory platforms
  • Ownership of the commercial and contractual relationships with relevant stakeholders (Home Office, suppliers, vendors) to meet UK Investigatory Powers Obligations
  • Monitoring the development of new and existing BT products and services to ensure that relevant CD and DR technical obligations capability can be maintained.
  • Ensuring high levels of data quality of all associated CD and liaising with source system owners to identify and resolve DQ issues.
  • Providing technical leadership to assist GSS enterprise deliveries and the creation of value add opportunities

What you'll bring:

  • Experience of system scoping, design and implementation based on sound system engineering principles.
  • Experience in the review of legal/regulatory obligations and application of these obligations to business and technical requirements.
  • Experience and knowledge of BT product portfolio.
  • Experience of leading a team.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance ( https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). The role is subject to you gaining and keeping the necessary level of security clearance needed to undertake your work. The result of the security clearance vetting is not subject to appeal. Failure to successfully achieve and maintain the necessary level of security clearance may see any offer of employment with BT cease or withdrawn or may cause a role change or possibly lead to termination of employment.
