Job Description
Location: Belfast
About the role
This is a high-impact Security Sales Specialist role within BT’s growing cyber security business, focused on driving revenue across Northern Ireland. You’ll operate at the centre of complex, enterprise-level sales, working with a mix of public and private sector customers to shape and close high-value cyber security deals.
Working as part of a wider UK security sales team, you’ll partner closely with account teams, solution architects, and senior stakeholders to identify opportunities, build pipeline, and deliver outcomes for customers. This is a specialist overlay role—not just generating demand, but bringing deep domain expertise and credibility to customer conversations at C-level.
The role carries significant commercial responsibility, with a £7m–£15m annual sales target and exposure to deals ranging from smaller engagements through to multi-million-pound transformations. You’ll be responsible for Northern Ireland accounts, operating with a high level of autonomy while influencing key customer strategies and security roadmaps.
This is a fast-evolving market where cyber security sits at the heart of every technology conversation. Success in this role means staying ahead of industry trends, translating complex security challenges into compelling solutions, and positioning BT as a trusted partner in a highly competitive landscape.
What you’ll be doing
- Drive new revenue by identifying, shaping, and closing complex cyber security opportunities across your account base
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline (3x target) through proactive hunting and account development
- Lead end-to-end sales cycles for multi-product security solutions, from initial engagement through to contract closure
- Engage senior stakeholders (including CIOs and CISOs) to understand risk, strategy, and business priorities
- Translate customer needs into tailored security propositions across areas such as SOC, SIEM, SASE, Cloud, and IAM
- Collaborate with account teams, bid specialists, and solution architects to deliver compelling, high-value proposals
- Own and deliver against personal sales targets, contributing to wider team revenue and growth objectives
- Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline management using Salesforce and internal tools
- Keep up to date with cyber security trends, vendor capabilities, and emerging threats to inform customer conversations
Essential Skills / Experience
- Proven experience in B2B cyber security sales, with domain knowledge across the security landscape
- Track record of winning and delivering complex, multi-million-pound deals
- Technical understanding of cyber security solutions (e.g. network security, cloud security, identity, MDR/XDR)
- Experience engaging and influencing C-level stakeholders (e.g. CIO, CISO)
- Ability to operate autonomously and manage a regional territory with minimal oversight
- Commercially driven with strong negotiation and deal-closing capability
- Experience building and converting pipeline in a competitive, fast-paced environment
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Experience selling solutions from leading cyber vendors (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, CrowdStrike)
- Relevant security or vendor certifications
- Experience across both public sector and enterprise customers
- Knowledge of emerging areas such as AI-driven security, API security, or Zero Trust
- Eligible to obtain SC level security clearance (at least 5 years' continuous living in the UK)
