Job Description

Location: Birmingham

About the role

As a Desk Sales Professional, you’ll play a key role in retaining and re-signing existing customers across BT’s Mid-Market customer base.

Working closely with Account Managers, you’ll manage renewal opportunities across a portfolio of customers, engaging them as contracts approach renewal, understanding their requirements and helping secure their continued business with BT. Alongside protecting existing revenue, you’ll identify opportunities to grow customer value across BT’s connectivity and specialist portfolio.

This is a desk-based, hybrid sales role where you’ll combine customer retention, commercial negotiation and account growth, working with internal teams to deliver strong customer and commercial outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing customer renewal and re-sign opportunities, helping retain existing Mid-Market customers, primarily across networking and IP connectivity services.
  • Proactively engaging customers approaching renewal, understanding their needs and progressing opportunities through to a successful re-sign.
  • Handling commercial conversations around renewals, including pricing, contract value and customer requirements.
  • Identifying renewal risks and working with Account Managers to retain customers and protect existing revenue.
  • Using renewal conversations to identify opportunities to upsell, cross-sell or migrate customers to other BT solutions, including networking, voice, mobile and IT.
  • Building and progressing a qualified pipeline, with clear visibility of upcoming renewals, risks and sales opportunities.
  • Managing assigned opportunities end-to-end, working with finance, pricing and specialist teams where required.
  • Maintaining accurate pipeline, customer and forecasting information through CRM and sales tools.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Experience managing B2B customer renewals, re-signs or commercially focused retention activity, with direct involvement in securing customers for a further contract term.
  • Proven B2B sales experience, ideally within an existing customer, desk-based or inside-sales environment.
  • A track record of delivering against renewal, retention and/or sales targets.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with experience discussing pricing, customer value and commercial propositions.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio or pipeline of customer opportunities, prioritising effectively and progressing opportunities through to close.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience selling within telecoms, connectivity, networking, technology or another recurring-contract B2B environment.
  • Experience supporting Mid-Market or SME customers.
  • Knowledge of connectivity, networking or IP-based solutions within a sales environment.
  • Experience identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities during the renewal lifecycle.
  • Experience working alongside Account Managers and commercial, pricing or specialist sales teams.
