Why this job matters

The role holder will play a pivotal part in supporting the transformation of the UK business connectivity portfolios into new IT using a modular, reuseable component methodology. The Product Manager role will work closely with existing Product teams as well as the UK Fabric Product Manager lead to define and document requirements including inputting into backlog prioritisation with specific focus on API first.

The role holder will also take a proactive role in supporting product development processes, assisting in the implementation of company product strategies, product management, user experience (UX), software engineering, and analysis across multiple product lines. A key element of the role will be taking a product lead on current portfolio capabilities and defining our API product strategy under UK Fabric. This will involve developing & maintaining Industry & Market Insight in both networking technologies and API best practice to adopt into UK Fabric & API strategy

The role holder will be co-located with the Digital design and delivery teams working on UK Fabric to ensure optimised programme delivery management from a Product perspective.

The role is focussed on the strategic design and implementation of UK Fabric portfolio capabilities taking and validating inputs and requirements across the other business connectivity portfolios in scope including IP VPN, Internet, Ethernet and Could Access. There will be a specific remit on the Digital Product API strategy on existing Data Networking products and as part of UK Fabric transformation.

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities

  • Working with UK Fabric Product Manager on owning and managing product requirements & documentation across the UK Fabric portfolio
  • Collocated in Benaglore, India with UK Fabric Digital design and delivery teams
  • Working with channel propositions team on documenting use cases & personas primarily for business, public sector or wholesale markets
  • Defining capabilities against customer demand across the connectivity portfolio
  • Working closely with Digital and Networks teams including Network OSS team to ensure maximum reusability for access components within the scope of UK Business Connectivity Fabric transformation.
  • Write specifications and support the coordination of product schedules.
  • Conducts analysis of customer behaviour, metrics development and cultivating novel techniques to help customers.
  • Supporting Data Networking Digital API capabilities, maximising re-use where appropriate of Global Fabric APIs
  • Defining future business connectivity API Product approach and ecosystem support
  • Collaborating with wider BT virtual team to establish & evolve API best practice that is product/channel agnostic enabling multi-product consumption
  • Evolving our Product Development methodology in line with API industry best practice
  • Identify & qualify customer problems - translate into validated opportunities/use cases that can be supported by API journeys before we define requirements

About the role

The Product Specialist leads the squad, managing the vision, backlog, and day-to-day priorities. They are responsible for achieving key business outcomes by integrating stakeholder perspectives to meet Tribe goals. They define and prioritize requirements in the squad's backlog and approve completed items.

1. Develops and delivers the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to address customer needs and commercial objectives, ensuring alignment with Tribe goals.
2. Aligns squad objectives with BT Group’s broader transformation strategy, ensuring consistency in direction and outcomes.
3. Drives cross-functional teams toward achieving Tribe objectives, applying a customer-first approach and leveraging technical product expertise.
4. Manages the squad backlog, prioritizing features based on business value and execution impact, guided by data-driven insights.
5. Leads annual planning and quarterly prioritization, taking responsibility for budgeting, resource allocation, and ensuring optimal delivery.
6. Identifies and resolves risks and blockers, fostering transparency and facilitating resolution across teams and stakeholders.
