About the role

This is a newly created Procurement Manager position within our Networks Procurement team, supporting the continued growth of our cross-category work across BT Group. The role works across fixed and mobile networks, Openreach and BT International, with a focus on network support and maintenance, circular economy initiatives and process optimisation. You’ll identify and deliver commercial opportunities that reduce operating and storage costs, improve asset recovery and generate value from surplus network equipment and materials. Working collaboratively with colleagues across Procurement, Networks, Finance and operational teams, as well as external suppliers, you’ll turn complex opportunities into clear sourcing strategies, competitive events and business cases.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and deliver procurement and sourcing strategies across network support and maintenance, circular economy and process optimisation initiatives.
  • Review OEM spend and existing support and maintenance arrangements, identifying opportunities to introduce competition, improve commercial models and utilise third-party providers where appropriate.
  • Manage end-to-end competitive sourcing events, including RFIs, RFQs and RFPs, from market engagement and commercial assessment through to negotiation, contracting and implementation.
  • Develop business cases and commercial recommendations using spend, supplier, demand, inventory and operational data.
  • Coordinate asset recovery and triage activities, including retrieval, decommissioning, collection, reuse, resale, recycling and responsible disposal.
  • Support process optimisation across areas including spare parts management, repairs, reverse logistics, migration programmes and stock management.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Procurement, Networks, Finance, operational teams and the ECO team, alongside external suppliers, to create alignment and deliver shared outcomes.
  • Track and report savings, cost avoidance, revenue recovery, working capital, sustainability and service benefits, while identifying delivery risks and supporting effective procurement governance.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Experience in strategic procurement and sourcing, with the ability to independently manage complex projects from initial strategy through to negotiation, contracting and implementation.
  • Commercial experience covering areas such as commercial models, benchmarking, competitive assessments, business cases, RFIs, RFQs and RFPs.
  • Experience of negotiation and stakeholder management within multi-stakeholder environments, with the ability to collaborate, constructively challenge and influence across different teams.
  • Understanding of supply chains, continuous improvement and circular economy principles, including revenue gain-share models and the ability to translate data into clear commercial insights.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Procurement or commercial experience within telecommunications, technology infrastructure, networks, field operations or engineering services.
  • Knowledge of network support and maintenance arrangements, including OEM and third-party service models.
  • Experience or knowledge of asset recovery, reuse, refurbishment, resale, recycling, waste management or responsible disposal.
  • Understanding of network asset lifecycles, spare parts, repairs, reverse logistics or inventory optimisation.
  • Experience with commercial and financial analysis, including total-cost analysis, scenario modelling, benefits validation or risk assessment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, alongside e-sourcing, ERP or procurement reporting platforms.
  • A relevant professional qualification, postgraduate study or equivalent practical experience in procurement, supply chain, commercial management, business or a related area.

Our Package

  • 10% on target bonus
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays and an opportunity to buy up to five more days every year
  • Hybrid working, with state-of-the-art offices within Canal Plaza
  • BT Sourced Pension Scheme - 6% BT contributions
  • Life Assurance from 1st day of employment - 4x salary
  • We provide healthcare cover and permanent health insurance (income continuance)
  • Access to excellent training tools, programmes and communities to help you connect, learn and grow.
  • And we like it when our people do good things so there will be the opportunity to take time off for volunteering and we'll help with your fundraising too.

BT Group is the UK’s leading communications group and the holding company behind some of the country’s most recognised brands – including BT, EE, Openreach and Plusnet. Our purpose is as simple as it is ambitious: we connect for good. Our customers include consumers, small, medium and large businesses, public sector organisations and other communications providers.

BT Group’s role is about setting direction, unlocking value and creating the conditions for our brands and businesses to thrive.

Having come through the most capital-intensive phase of our fibre investment, our focus now is on what comes next – simplifying how we operate, using technology and AI to work smarter, and organising ourselves to serve customers better and grow sustainably. Group teams shape strategy, policy, brand, capital allocation and transformation, helping the whole organisation perform at its best.

We have a singular culture that unites all our people: we are customer-first challengers, who are committed, clear and connected. These behaviours unite us as one team to deliver for our colleagues, our customers, our stakeholders and the country. Joining BT Group means working at the heart of a business that matters to the UK, with the opportunity to shape decisions, influence outcomes and help set the future course of one of the country’s most important companies.
