This role is critical in supporting how teams are structured and work together in a future state operating model.

You will design and deliver specific Organisation Design and Operating Model projects that are key enablers for Business in achieving its strategic and business outcomes.

You will be accountable from problem definition and case for change through the design process to completion. You will work closely with HRBPs and senior leaders to lead and deliver key transformation programs, focusing on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation, leadership, and teams. The role holder will work closely with counterparts across HR to share learning and best practices to ensure a consistent approach to the delivery and execution of operating model transformations and other people-related changes in Business.

The OD Specialist will advocate good practices in organisation design, organisational and team effectiveness, and change management to ensure that a people-focused approach is always applied in their projects and programs to improve colleague experience and optimise business performance. The OD Specialist will maintain organisation and job architecture through sizing roles, governance, and assurance as appropriate for Business.

What you’ll be doing

•Accountable for leading and delivering organisation design projects within Business as part of the overall One BT operating model.
•Support senior stakeholders and HRBPs through Operating Model Transformation by facilitating current state operating model assessments, defining and designing target operating models, and developing transformation roadmaps, including organisational structures, ways of working, governance and decision-making, and skills and capabilities.
•Provide organisation design expertise and coaching to senior stakeholders and HR stakeholders, including interventions to address organisational, team, or leadership challenges.
•Apply deep specialist knowledge to provide advice, interpretation, and guidance on organisation design practices and processes.
•Apply specialist knowledge on Agile practices and methodology.
•Collaborate with the business, leading specialist service provision on organisation design through projects contracted with each HRD/People transformation director.
•Act as a specialist, interfacing with HR Business Partners, other HR centres of expertise, business stakeholders, and representing BT with external parties by applying external best practices.
•Lead regular/ad hoc activities to review best practices and industry standards.
•Build understanding, skill sets, and competencies in specialism within the HR and Line Manager communities.
•Work collaboratively, adapting and flexing your style for different audiences to deliver results in a global, matrixed organisation.

Skills and experience

Organisation Design expertise: Acknowledged across the business (and outside BT) as an expert in OD or change management to ensure credibility as part of a Transformation team.
Systems thinking: Sees complex entities as a series of components, with each part interfacing with and influencing the rest when solving problems.
Storytelling/Communication: Strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and building a shared understanding of the logical options available to solve business problems.
Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g., business KPIs, business cases).
Team effectiveness: Understanding of stages of team development and how to facilitate constructive team sessions to drive improved outcomes.
Excellent analytical reasoning: Ability to identify problems and develop hypotheses.
Change implementation: Experience in leading and implementing large-scale organisational change.
