Job Description

About the role

As Insight Manager, Strategy you will own the relationship with our pan BT Strategy teams, helping them make customer-focused and data-based decisions in order to set BT’s long-term strategic objectives.

Focusing mainly on the longer-term strategic ambitions of BT, but with an agile mindset to help solve short to medium term commercial objectives, you will partner with your stakeholders to understand customer needs and create compelling, insight-driven business cases from a wide range of market intelligence, secondary research, and raw data.

You will continually champion the most important customer needs with your stakeholders so they can make better customer-centric decisions and deliver commercial performance goals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the development and delivery of the customer and market narrative across key strategic planning processes, including Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and Medium-Term Planning (MTP), ensuring the ‘voice of the customer’ informs strategic decision-making, business planning and investment priorities across BT.
  • Act as a trusted partner to senior strategy stakeholders, providing timely, evidence-based insight on market dynamics, competitive positioning, customer needs and brand performance.
  • Manage and synthesise primary research, secondary data and market intelligence, translating complex information into actionable strategic recommendations and identifying long-term customer and market trends.
  • Support strategic planning and transformation activities, including assessing macroeconomic, technological and industry developments and identifying commercial growth opportunities.
  • Define and prioritise the Group Insight roadmap, balancing stakeholder demand and aligning insight activity to key business priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Lead the management of external insight partners and analyst relationships, maximising the value of a c.£2m investment to deliver impactful market intelligence to senior business leaders.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Insight generation & research expertise – Strong experience using both primary and secondary research sources, combined with a natural curiosity to interrogate complex data sets, identify trends, and translate evidence into clear, commercially relevant insights and recommendations.
  • Storytelling & senior stakeholder communication – Proven ability to synthesise complex information into compelling narratives, creating impactful presentations and delivering clear, concise recommendations to senior leaders, executives, and board-level audiences.
  • People leadership & team management – Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture, setting clear direction and priorities, and coaching individuals to achieve both personal and business objectives.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Strong stakeholder leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to inspire, engage and build credibility across senior commercial, strategy and cross-functional teams in a large global organisation.
  • Commercially astute and strategically minded, with a strong understanding of the telecoms, technology and wider market landscape and the drivers of revenue and profit growth.
  • Highly adaptable and resilient, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work across diverse teams, and thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Advanced research and analytical expertise, including experience applying innovative market research techniques, AI-enabled approaches and synthetic audiences to generate actionable insights.
  • Experience in strategy, consulting or similar analytical roles, with strong business partnering skills and a proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments
