Hybrid working - three days in the office, two days working from home

About the role

This role supports ESN and the wider Business finance teams in driving transformational improvements across financial activities, enhancing trust in financial outputs and standardising processes. You will be accountable for financial accounting and controls across specific ESN programmes, ensuring robust governance, effective accounting treatment and alignment to best practice. Working as part of a specialist team, you will help drive compliance, consistency and continuous improvement across Financial Accounting and Controls.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering and supporting the financial results into the GL with integrity, accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations
  • Accountable for accounting judgments and accounting papers for your area of responsibility.
  • Accountable for documentation and effective operation of financial processes and controls for your area of responsibility.
  • Driving improvements to processes and controls to enable faster month end close.
  • Supporting standardisation of accounting and controls function across BT Business.
  • Technical Accounting support for your area of responsibility.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Qualified accountant (or equivalent experience) with strong knowledge and practical application of accounting principles, including financial accounting and statutory reporting
  • Strong financial and data analysis capability, able to generate clear insights and support decision-making
  • Experience across financial controls, compliance and risk, including audit liaison, alongside process mapping and documentation expertise

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience operating within finance teams in complex, matrixed commercial environments, with strong stakeholder management
  • Solid technical accounting expertise, including ownership of month-end processes
  • Track record of driving process improvements and developing robust financial control frameworksWorking knowledge of ERP systems, ideally SAP
