About the role

The Finance Customer Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial performance and controlling activities related to customer accounts in the specific region. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports commercial decision-making, and drives profitability analysis for key customers and business segments. You will provide and assure an effective controls framework for the customers in your region, driving compliance, standardisation and consistency of finance practices, and assuring adherence to BT policies and processes. This role combines strong financial expertise and a proactive approach to continuous improvement and value creation.

What you’ll be doing

The Finance Customer Controller is responsible for:

Controlling & Reporting
Ensure accuracy and completeness of customer-related financial data - track KPIs and explain variances vs. plan and prior periods
• Owning the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes for assigned customers/regions - prepare and deliver monthly financial reports and dashboards related to customer performance.
• Ensure high-quality, transparent financial reporting and variance analysis by reviewing profitability, margins, and revenue trends.
• Drive continuous improvement of controlling processes and identify cost optimization opportunities

Cost & Margin Management
• Analyse customer-specific costs - identify risks and opportunities to improve customer profitability
• Drive cost control initiatives and margin improvement actions.

Process & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies
• Support audits and ensure proper documentation of financial processes
• Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives

Commercial support & partnering with the international teams
• Partner closely with the Commercial customer teams specifically global CAs.
• Act as in country point of contact for the customer commercial & finance teams - challenge and guide stakeholders to optimize financial outcomes.

Essential Skills / Experience

• Strong knowledge of standard controlling tools and methodologies incl. compliance and risk
• Solid expertise in finance and accounting, in particular in-depth knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS/IAS)
• Good knowledge of Oracle financial systems and SAP
• Financial & Data Analysis and insight
• Independent working style, high level of initiative, and strong resilience
• Experience working with virtual and international teams
• Fluent English, both written and spoken

• Financial Control Experience
• Experience working in a complex, matrix, commercial and international organisation
