This 48‑month apprenticeship programme is designed to grow you into a confident, capable software engineering professional. You’ll gain hands‑on experience, real responsibility, and industry‑recognised qualifications. About the Role

As a Software Engineering Apprentice, you’ll learn directly from experienced engineers and play your part in building and improving our digital products.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to the design, build, and maintenance of our platforms and services
  • Work on real engineering challenges that impact customers at scale
  • Learn modern software engineering practices and tools
  • Support continuous improvement across our platforms and teams

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who’s curious, eager to learn, and passionate about solving problems.

Qualifications

5 GCSEs at grade 4–9 (C or above), including Maths, English, and Science, or SCQF Level 5.

A’Levels (or equivalent)in a STEM subject such as IT, Data, Engineering, Computer Science, Maths, or Physics: 3 A’Levels at grade BBC or above, or SCQF Level 6 or 7.

As a Software Engineer apprentice, you’ll study for recognised apprenticeship (Computing Systems Degree Apprenticeship Level 6)

Skills that will help you succeed:

  • You don’t need to know everything on day one, but having some of the following skills or exposure will help you thrive:
  • Programming knowledge such as Java, JavaScript, Python or web development frameworks
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) or cloud native concepts.
  • Familiarity with AI or machine learning concepts, tools, or projects (university, personal or work based).
  • Experience with APIs, databases, or microservices
  • An interest in large-scale systems, performance, and reliability
