About the role

A Data Intelligence Specialist will be essential to maximise the performance of BT’s corporate and public sector specialist sales teams. The role will enable data-driven decision making, improve forecasting accuracy, and unlock insights that increase win rates and productivity. In complex, high-value sales environments, this role transforms data into a competitive advantage—driving smarter prioritisation, more relevant bids, and accelerated revenue growth.

  • Single accountable owner for commercial data & insight: Own end‑to‑end data visibility, insight delivery, and governance across Major Deals and Sales Enablement, ensuring a consistent, trusted source of truth for decision‑making.
  • Translate data into commercial action: Convert operational and commercial data into clear, decision‑ready insights for leaders and delivery teams, directly supporting deal economics, pipeline health, and commercial performance analysis.
  • Operational performance management at scale: Drive rigorous performance tracking across towers and products - monitoring throughput, SLAs, capacity utilisation, constraints, and bottlenecks to enable timely intervention and prioritisation.
  • Establish a performance‑led culture: Act as a foundational catalyst for a strong data and performance culture - embedding transparency, accountability, and fact‑based prioritisation across the commercial span.
  • Progress towards advanced analytics: Build the analytical foundations to progressively introduce predictive, advanced, and AI‑enabled insights - improving forecast accuracy, responsiveness, and overall decision velocity over time.
  • Linkage and alignment of the trading from the verticals to Deals & Sales Enablement.
  • Drive data-led commercial insights by aligning vertical pipeline, deal priorities, and trading performance to deals & sales enablement including win rates, sales velocity, and deal size trends.
  • Provide data‑led decision support through ROI and bid cost analysis (e.g., WNB), competitive intelligence, trend insights, and regular performance reporting to shape commercial initiatives, improve win outcomes, and optimise product mix.

What you will be doing (Role Accountabilities)

  • Collect, analyse and integrate data from multiple internal sources to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability. Discover insights from the data pool by applying data mining techniques, conducting statistical analyses and building prediction to drive business decisions and commercial outcomes.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities aligned to business objectives.
  • Partner with business users to understand data requirements and convert them into analytical solutions and translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders across business, sales, and leadership teams.
  • Ensure strong data governance practices, including data quality checks, validation, documentation, and compliance standards.
  • Automate recurring reports and analytics workflows to reduce manual effort and improve decision velocity.

Support advanced analytics initiatives such as forecasting, segmentation, performance measurement, and KPI tracking.

  • Continuously identify opportunities to enhance data usability, visualization standards, and insight delivery.
  • Contribute to data strategy initiatives, including tooling rationalisation, self‑service analytics, and AI‑enabled insights.
  • Develop and optimise dashboards (e.g., Qlik Sense / Power BI) with strong performance and user experience. Monitor dashboard usage and adoption to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage semantic layers, data models, and KPI definitions to ensure a single source of truth.
  • The role leads as a specialist and helps drive effective data analysis and life cycle activity. Also, enhances data collection procedures to identify and action key KPIs as well as processing, cleansing and verifying the integrity of data.
  • Delivers specific projects to shape and progress various aspects of the strategic agenda, using highly advanced technical knowledge of analytics and modelling and inputting to the development of the overall strategic plan.
  • Works with own team to analyse qualitative and quantitative information and identify key findings to inform strategy development.
  • Deliver detailed reporting and analysis (by tower, product, and vertical) to track bid ROI, competitive positioning, and performance optimisation opportunities.
  • Support commercial strategy and governance through pricing, MTP/pay plan inputs, financial accuracy, and continuous improvement of sales and bidding processes.

What you’ll need to succeed (Skills & Experience)

  • End‑to‑end sales data intelligence: Proven experience collecting, integrating, and governing complex datasets across sales, marketing, finance, and operations to deliver a reliable, decision‑grade analytical foundation for commercial performance management.
  • Advanced analytics & modelling: Demonstrated capability applying statistical analysis, regression, clustering/segmentation, predictive modelling, and scenario modelling to uncover revenue drivers, pipeline risks, pricing opportunities, churn signals, and growth levers.
  • Strong technical stack: Hands‑on expertise in Python (pandas, numpy, scikit‑learn), SQL, and advanced BI tooling (Qlik Sense / Power BI) to build scalable data models, semantic layers, and reusable analytics assets; working knowledge of automation frameworks and APIs to streamline data pipelines.
  • Sales performance & insight delivery: Deep experience translating data into actionable insights for sales leadership, including quota modelling, territory performance, funnel conversion, win‑loss analysis, forecast accuracy, and KPI frameworks aligned to commercial outcomes.
  • Business partnership & stakeholder leadership: Trusted partner to senior business and sales stakeholders - able to convert ambiguous commercial questions into structured analytical solutions, and simplify complex findings into clear narratives that influence decisions.
  • Data governance & single source of truth: Proven ownership of data quality, validation, KPI definitions, and documentation - ensuring consistency, auditability, and regulatory‑compliant use of commercial data across teams.
  • Automation & productivity uplift: Delivered tangible efficiency gains by automating recurring reports, dashboards, and analytics workflows, reducing manual effort and accelerating insight‑to‑action cycles.
  • Insight‑led dashboards & UX: Designed and optimised high‑performance dashboards with strong user experience, monitoring adoption and usage to continuously improve relevance, impact, and business value.
