About this role

The Data and AI team in NAS helps BT make better decisions.

The data products we deliver are used across all our Customer Facing Units. They are central to the live monitoring of our networks, guide the development of the services and products we provide, and improve the day to day experience our customers, specialising in improving their service.


This role is pivotal in shaping our data landscape for the future. You’ll be hands on: managing building, developing and maintaining our data platforms, ensuring they are optimised for efficiency, scalability & reliability and turning the most complex business needs into the data and AI solutions that assist Networks data strategy.

What You’ll Be Doing

This role is pivotal in shaping our data landscape for the future. You’ll be hands on: managing building, developing and maintaining our data platforms, ensuring they are optimised for efficiency, scalability & reliability and turning the most complex business needs into the data and AI solutions that assist Networks data strategy.

Skills and Experience

  • Data Engineering: Strong proficiency in data engineering concepts, tools and technologies. Tech stack: AWS, GCP & Hadoop, Spark, Scala, Python, SQL, Kafka, cloud native services). Ability to work with very large streaming data sets and perform complex data transformations.
  • Data Management: Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data privacy standards. Familiarity with data warehousing, data lakes, and cloud-based data storage solutions.
  • Data Modelling: Ability to design and implement effective data models to assist business processes.
  • Observability & DevOps: experience in developing and integrating observability tooling
  • AI and ML: experience building pipelines assist ML models and integrating AI solutions.
  • Domain expertise: relating to BT Networks products, not limited to Wi-Fi standards, device management, industry measures & regulatory obligations

Experience You’ll Bring

  • Proven ability and experience to develop and assist data solutions at scale [MANDATORY]
  • Drive to push forward engineering standards and want to be hands on. [MANDATORY]
  • Proven experience of DevOps practices and tools [MANDATORY]
  • Understanding of observability tools and concepts [MANDATORY
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) [MANDATORY]
  • Knowledge of data governance and best practices for data security and privacy [MANDATORY]
  • Stakeholder management [MANDATORY]
  • Experience bringing ML solutions to production & in life assist and maintenance including model drift [PREFERRED]
