Job Description

Function: Cyber Security Operations

Location: Hungary

Salary: We believe in open conversations. If selected, salary details will be shared with you ahead of your interview, so you have clarity from the start.

About the role

  • This role sits within BT International's Cyber Architecture, Engineering and Implementation team, supporting the development, deployment and in-life operation of BT International’s managed Cyber Threat Intelligence security services.
  • The team works across cloud and SaaS-based security platforms including Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike and Securonix, helping BT deliver secure, scalable and innovative security services to major global customers.
  • The role contributes directly to BT's growth and transformation strategy by helping deliver modern cloud-first and AI-enabled cyber security services that are secure, repeatable and cost efficient. You will work with security platforms that increasingly leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning and advanced analytics to improve threat detection, incident investigation, operational efficiency and customer insight. You will also help identify opportunities to apply automation and AI-driven capabilities to improve service quality, reduce manual effort and accelerate delivery outcomes.
  • As part of a collaborative engineering team, you will work closely with product teams, architects, SOC analysts, threat detection specialists, service operations, project managers, suppliers and customers to ensure BT's cyber security services remain reliable, innovative and aligned to customer and business objectives. The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop wide expertise across cloud security, SaaS platforms, AI-enabled security operations and large-scale managed security services while building towards more senior engineering and design responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

  • Support senior technical leads in the design and implementation of BT International managed cyber security services across Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, Securonix and other cloud-native security platforms, to industry and BT quality controls and standards.
  • Take ownership of defined engineering work packages and smaller technical projects, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, quality and timelines.
  • Design, Configure, integrate and support SaaS security platforms, cloud services and supporting technologies in both customer and BT-managed environments.
  • Setup and support Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud engineering activities, including identity, networking, security configuration, monitoring and service integration.
  • Design and enable customer data sources and security technologies using APIs, cloud connectors, agents, syslog and other collection methods.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across cloud platforms, security tools, integrations and network connectivity.
  • Develop, maintain and improve engineering documentation including low-level designs, implementation guides, operating procedures, test plans and knowledge articles.
  • Plan and execute technical testing activities, recording evidence, validating outcomes and supporting service acceptance.
  • Support platform upgrades, migrations, service improvements and customer transition activities.
  • Work with SOC, Product, Architecture, Service Operations and Customer Delivery teams to ensure solutions remain secure, supportable and operationally effective.
  • May assist with vulnerability remediation, access management, security assurance and audit evidence activities across managed platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, operational efficiency and service quality using cloud-native and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, communicating technical information clearly and professionally.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Experience working in any Cyber Security Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Security Operations, Infrastructure Engineering or a related technology discipline.
  • Basic knowledge and basic understanding of Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS), including core cloud services, identity management, security controls, monitoring and platform administration.
  • Some experience supporting, deploying or operating security technologies such as SIEM, XDR, EDR, Cloud Security or Identity Security solutions.
  • Core understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs and secure network connectivity.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to manage personal workload, prioritise competing activities and deliver agreed outcomes with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive approach and genuine desire to learning new technologies and adapting to a rapidly evolving cyber security landscape.
  • Experience collaborating across virtual teams, suppliers, customers and stakeholders to deliver technical outcomes. You will be encouraged to forge relationships outside the team with other stakeholders.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience of troubleshooting technical issues across cloud services, applications, security platforms, APIs and network environments.
  • ‘hands-on’ experience with any Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike, CrowdStrike NG-SIEM, Securonix, or other similar enterprise security platforms.
  • hands-on’ experience with any cloud services (Microsoft Azure and AWS environments).
  • Experience supporting managed security services, SOC environments or large-scale enterprise security operations.
  • Understanding of modern threat detection, incident response, security monitoring and cyber threat management concepts.

  • Awareness of security frameworks, regulatory requirements and industry good practice, including ISO27001, NIST, CIS Controls or Cyber Essentials.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) or Generative AI technologies and how they are applied within cyber security operations, threat detection, automation and security analytics.
