About the role

The Associate Engineer role focuses on developing, supporting, and enhancing software solutions and automation capabilities that improve operational efficiency and service reliability. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and technical leads, the role contributes to key service management areas such as Incident, Major Incident, Problem, and Change Management while building technical expertise, troubleshooting skills, and a strong foundation in software engineering best practices.

  • Understand need of multiple projects and communicate them divisionally and/or cross-divisionally
  • Knowledge to deliver in Agile Methodologies.
  • Follow strong engineering practices in the team
  • Ability to debug complex issues and provide the right solution

What you’ll be doing

  • Work under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Engineer or Technical Lead to deliver assigned tasks and objectives.
  • Own and deliver assigned work items end-to-end with quality and accountability.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful and timely delivery.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of the product, technology stack, engineering processes, and business requirements to make informed contributions.
  • Participate actively in team discussions, code reviews, planning sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Apply engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality processes in day-to-day work.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues with support from senior team members when required.
  • Demonstrate a learning mindset by continuously improving technical skills and expanding domain knowledge.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and challenges clearly to team members and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to team goals by embracing feedback, collaborating effectively, and maintaining a customer-focused approach.
  • Support documentation, operational excellence, and process improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Build professional presence by participating in technical communities, learning programs, forums, and relevant engineering events.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience in software development and application support.
  • Hands-on experience with Java (OpenJDK 17), J2EE, and object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Experience developing Microservices using Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Spring Data.
  • Good understanding of RESTful APIs and SOAP Web Services.
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Knowledge of Apache Kafka or similar event-driven messaging platforms.
  • Experience with API documentation and testing tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle, version control, testing, and debugging practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Hands-on experience or certification in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon Kiro, or similar coding assistants to improve development productivity and code quality.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of automation, observability, and monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of Telecom domain processes, OSS/BSS systems, and service management practices.
  • Contributions to technical communities, personal projects, hackathons, or open-source initiatives are a plus.
