Location: Barrow (Cumbria). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 3-5 days per week.

Salary: £25,900

Role description

You will join a dynamic team supporting the full product lifecycle of our submarines. From concept and design through to build, test, commissioning, and in-service support, you will play a key role in developing and delivering complex electrical engineering solutions for current and future submarine platforms.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of electrical systems, including power system architecture, protection and coordination, earth fault monitoring, power system modelling and operation, and electrical power generation and distribution across both AC and DC systems. You may also work with energy storage technologies, power electronics, degaussing and cathodic protection systems, submarine lighting systems, and other critical electrical equipment essential to the operation and manufacture of our submarines.

In addition, there may be opportunities to undertake further specialist training and apply your skills across a variety of complex engineering programmes.

Core Duties

• Help develop engineering design solutions and produce key documents like diagrams, specs and calculations.
• Support creating and managing system requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Assist in design reviews, testing, commissioning activities and customer presentations.
• Check supplier information, ensure compliance with safety and quality processes, and keep design evidence up to date.
• Provide technical support during build, defect resolution and equipment configuration or testing.
• Contribute to reports, safety justifications, modelling, analysis and factory acceptance tests.
• Support the integration of new technologies and contribute to the development, testing, and commissioning of our submarines.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2:2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: Electrical Engineering
