BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is home to 4,500 digital, cyber and intelligence experts. We work collaboratively across 10 countries to collect, connect and understand complex data, so that governments, nation states, armed forces and commercial businesses can unlock digital advantage in the most demanding environments.

About The Team

Our mission at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is to collect, connect and understand complex data, so that our customers can unlock digital advantage in the most demanding environments.

At our Malaysian Global Delivery Centre, we work with clients from around the world to deliver engineering services in the industries of defence and cybersecurity to meet our customer’s needs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to work as a technical test engineer on a complex network traffic monitoring related system.

What you will be doing:

  • Test Strategy & Design: Crafting comprehensive test plans and detailed test cases that cover functional requirements, edge cases, and "negative" testing scenarios.
  • Packet Analysis & Verification: Using Wireshark to perform deep packet inspection (DPI), to ensure the system is responding to traffic as expected.
  • Simulating "The Unusual": Creating synthetic network traffic and "noise" to trigger different system behaviours.
  • Executing Regression Cycles: Running end-to-end regression suites during every release cycle to ensure that new feature updates do not break existing monitoring or alerting logic.
  • Defect Lifecycle Management: Identifying, logging, and tracking software defects, then collaborating closely with developers to reproduce complex network-based race conditions.

Role requirements:

  • Essential
    • Ideal candidate has 3+ years of relevant work experience, including hands on experience working with network traffic data.
    • Experience using defect and test management tools (e.g. JIRA) to track defects and manage tests
    • Strong analytical and technical skills.
    • Experience using Wireshark
    • Experience working in Linux-based environments, particularly with CLI-driven interaction.
  • Desirable
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science / information technology / engineering or equivalent with minimum CGPA 3.00
    • Experience with one or more of the following: Ansible, Kibana and Maltego
    • Understanding of TCP/IP, network protocols, and packet flows.
    • Familiarity with modern distributed systems, including container orchestrated environments (e.g., Kubernetes, Helm)
    • Familiarity with testing systems that handle high data throughput, or exposure to technologies commonly used in large‑scale data environments such as HDFS or Elasticsearch.

What we offer

  • An exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative team driving innovation with the latest technologies in the geospatial domain. We will support you with access to online L&D platforms and the opportunity for external training aligned to your work.
  • Work-life balance is important; you will get 18 days holiday a year (increases to 21 after 5 years’ service)
  • We support hybrid working and give flexibility for team leads to decide on the balance between remote and office-based working, at current time majority of work is done remotely.
  • Our benefits package includes private family medical cover, maternity (4 months), paternity (2 weeks) & study leave.
  • We provide an annual allowance that can be used for dental, optical or health screening purposes.
  • You will be part of our annual bonus and share award scheme.
  • You will have a dedicated line Manager to help you develop your career and guide you on your journey through BAE Systems Digital Intelligence
