Job Description

Job Title: Software Test & Support Engineer

Location: Bristol, Gloucester, Christchurch, Yeovil, Leeds, Alton, Frimley and Guildford can all be considered, we offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Circa £45,000 depending on skills & experiences

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining automated software tests currently using SOAPUI and Postman
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining manual software tests within Microsoft Test Manager in an agilescrum source-controlled system
  • Using SQL server to write, enhance and maintain Stored procedures used to coordinate datum database data integrity
  • Collaborating with product owners, developers and other testers to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Writing clean and repeatable tests (Automated and Manual)
  • Ensuring server deployments of automation tests to run nightly via source-controlled PowerShell scripts
  • Debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving automated test failures and performance issues
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of testing processes and standards
  • Performing SQL database administration functions to maintain server functionality and backup procedures

Your skills and experiences:

  • Validated professional software testing experience
  • Proficient in API testing using industry-standard tools, with experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and managing agile workflows with version control systems
  • Experience of writing, running and controlling manual test scripts in a source-controlled environment
  • Good analytical skills and problem-solving ability
  • Considerable understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and RESTful APIs, including client-server architecture

The Development Team:

We are seeking a skilled Software Test and Support Engineer with validated professional software testing experience to join our development team. You will work on critical Royal Navy software systems, contributing to new features, maintenance, and improvements within an Agile development lifecycle. Your role will involve both automated and manual testing in an Agile Scrum environment, as well as supporting In-Service Support with investigations, triage, Root Cause Analysis, and testing of support fixes. Additionally, you will assist with internal and external audit processes
