BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is home to 4,500 digital, cyber and intelligence experts. We work collaboratively across 10 countries to collect, connect and understand complex data, so that governments, nation states, armed forces and commercial businesses can unlock digital advantage in the most demanding environments.

Job Title: Test Automation Engineer
Location : Leeds, hybrid – You will be required to go onto the Leeds office 1-2 days per week, travel to other sites will also be a necessity

What you’ll be doing

  • Design and build reusable automated test solutions that support continuous product evolution
  • Collaborate with developers to shape clean, testable code from the outset
  • Partner with platform engineers to integrate testing into modern Continuous Delivery pipelines
  • Analyse requirements and create meaningful, high-impact test cases (functional, performance, and security)
  • Contribute to shared learning by reviewing test artefacts and supporting peers
  • Investigate and overcome challenges to deliver quality outcomes on time—without compromising standards
  • Take ownership of test results—refining and improving test suites as products evolve
  • Advocate for quality by ensuring appropriate unit and integration testing coverage
  • Use exploratory testing techniques when needed to uncover deeper insights
  • Clearly communicate how features are tested, building shared understanding across engineering teams

Your skills and experiences

  • Experience working in Agile environments
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g. Selenium, Cucumber)
  • Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g. REST Assured)
  • Experience testing user interfaces and large datasets
  • Working knowledge of Java and SQL

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub
  • Exposure to BDD / TDD practices
  • Awareness of accessibility standards and inclusive design
  • Experience or interest in AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres
