Who we are:

Join BAE Systems and you’ll be part of something bigger. As a valued member of our global colleague network, you’ll bring your unique skills and perspectives to help pioneer progress and protect what matters most. You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions, shaping a safer future for all of us. From the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.

What you will be doing:

In this role, you will join the Avionic Joint Front-End Team (FET), supporting the engineering lifecycle for the Eurofighter Typhoon. You will act as a key interface for customer requirements capture and early-stage systems engineering activity, ensuring technical coherence across avionics design teams.

You’ll work closely with human-machine interface specialists and wider engineering stakeholders to define requirements, assess system constraints, and develop coherent design concepts.

Core duties:

  • Lead requirements capture activities with customers and key stakeholders
  • Coordinate safety assessments, identifying potential hazards and system concerns
  • Conduct business case assessments, including scope definition, change impact analysis, and solution evaluation
  • Perform feasibility studies on design recommendations in collaboration with SMEs and engineering teams
  • Produce, manage, and maintain technical documentation in line with security, export control, and configuration management standards
  • Ensure alignment and consistency of requirements across multidisciplinary avionics design teams

Essential Skills:

  • STEM degree or equivalent experience required
  • Strong systems engineering background, ideally within aerospace or defence environments
  • Proven experience in requirements capture, analysis, and management on design front-end
  • Ability to produce structured, formal engineering and project documentation
  • Understanding of configuration control and engineering governance processes
  • Ability to work within defined standards, processes, and regulatory constraints
  • Awareness of safety considerations and technical risk assessment in engineering systems

The Avionic Joint Front-End Team:

Working at the front end of the engineering lifecycle, you’ll help shape early design decisions on a mature and complex defence platform. The Front End Team plays a critical role in translating customer needs into structured engineering requirements and ensuring alignment across multiple specialist disciplines. This is a highly collaborative environment where systems thinking, technical judgement, and stakeholder engagement are essential.

A place where everyone can thrive:

We’re committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and supported. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified people and encourage discussion of reasonable adjustments where needed.

Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to security and export control restrictions. Applicants must meet Baseline Personnel Security Standard, and many roles require higher levels of National Security Vetting, including 5–10 years continuous UK residency depending on the role.

Why BAE Systems?

Here you’ll build a career with purpose and limitless possibilities. Lifelong learning, meaningful work, and a supportive culture enable you to grow with confidence. You’ll be recognised for your contribution and supported with rewards that matter most to you.
