Job title: Senior Mechanical Testing Engineer (Materials)

Location: Samlesbury – Onsite only with shift work

Salary: £47,683+ (depending on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure the safety of you and your colleagues through promoting good SHE practices and completing assigned SHE activities/training in a timely fashion
  • Ensure adherence to operational/functional authority and have the correct approvals and training required, ensuring this is assessed and documented
  • Help identify capital investment requirements to deliver the business opportunities in line with the business needs
  • Support and contributing to the team, department and discipline in achieving its strategic objectives
  • Manage your workload, ensuring deliverables are met and work is completed within timescales agreed between individuals and line leadership, providing updates to senior management and customers as required, as well as taking ownership of your personal development
  • Comply with the company code of ethics, corporate/air sector policies and display the company behaviours. Comply with security and export control measures when testing/delivering work
  • Provide coaching and training to less experienced team members as needed
  • You will stand in for team leaders or specialists as appropriate

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • A degree or HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in STEM related subject e.g. Materials Science, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering; or equivalent, relevant experience and product expertise
  • Mechanical testing and evaluation experience (preferably aerospace); Knowledge and experience in carrying out carbon & metallic testing including tensile, compression, flexural, fatigue and fracture mechanics
  • Knowledge and experience of Zwick Roell and Instron test machine and software
  • Knowledge and experience in test development aligned with the latest industry standards and best practices

Desirable:

  • An awareness of the importance of operational governance in achieving product integrity
  • Working to defined standards and processes in all aspects of mechanical testing

Materials Engineering – Mechanical Testing team:

The role is within the Materials Engineering Mechanical Testing team and involves materials testing and process verification to a broad range of programmes with respect to materials and processing activities, supporting materials qualification projects, production support and in-service support. The job requires developing improvements to existing techniques, technology, services or operating procedures

The Materials Engineering team is place where you’ll be able to make a real difference.
