Job Description:

This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of advanced technology programmes within the Low Observable (LO) Materials domain, providing Technical Management across the Platform Shaping Technology portfolio. The position involves coordinating a range of activities including technology programme planning, delivery and reporting, as well as supplier management and engagement across a complex supply chain. You will play a key role in integrating work across multiple Shared Delivery Units (SDUs), shared services and work packages, ensuring effective technical alignment and integration across a diverse and evolving technology portfolio.

In addition, the role supports the management and reporting of headcount and budget for the LO Materials Technology Portfolio, working closely with the Low Observable Materials Domain Lead to maintain robust governance and control. The portfolio is delivered through a multi-disciplinary team operating across Warton and Samlesbury, with further collaboration across UK sites and external suppliers, requiring strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.

While the core Technical Management activities are UK-based, the role will also contribute to international collaboration efforts, including supporting mobilisation into joint venture environments when required.

Core duties:

  • Operating as part of the FCAS-AP WP2 Platform Shaping Technologies team, contributing to the delivery of a broad range of Technical Management activities across a complex and innovative technology portfolio.
  • Supporting end-to-end technology programme planning, delivery and performance reporting, alongside supplier engagement and coordination across Shared Delivery Units (SDUs), shared services and cross–work package integration.
  • Contributing to the development of quarterly scope definition and associated delivery commitments, ensuring alignment through robust planning and integrated scheduling processes.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of a coherent DAREO (technical and programmatic baseline), underpinning effective planning and schedule integration, while identifying, synthesising and escalating key risks and issues into delivery and project governance forums.
  • Supporting Low Observable (LO) Materials technology viability activities, including stocktake assessments, lifecycle gate inputs, Engineering Design Reviews (EDRs), and the facilitation of formal gate review processes.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience operating within engineering integration roles or delivering activities across complex, multi-disciplinary environments
  • Broad engineering knowledge in at least one relevant discipline, such as Design, Structures, Aerodynamics, Mission Systems or Low Observables; with an appreciation of Materials & Processes, Systems Engineering and/or Manufacturing Operations
  • Good understanding of project management and project controls, with the ability to support planning, tracking and delivery of technical programmes
  • Experience of Research & Development (R&D) programme lifecycles, with an understanding of the transition from engineering through to manufacturing and test & evaluation
  • Knowledge of airframe engineering processes, methods and toolsets, including exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Degree qualified in a STEM subject (e.g. Engineering, Aerospace) or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant industry experience

The Platform Shaping Technologies Delivery Team:

You will join the Platform Shaping Technologies Delivery team, playing a key role in the Technical Management and integration of activities across the Low Observable (LO) Materials programme. This includes supporting both technology development and its integration into the core platform, alongside engagement with customers and tri-lateral partners within a highly collaborative, international environment.

This role is central to enabling the success of the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), ensuring customer requirements are met through the development and integration of advanced LO material technologies within the wider Platform Shaping Technology portfolio. Working at the interface of multiple engineering disciplines and delivery teams, you will help ensure that innovative technologies are effectively transitioned into the core platform.

Operating within structured programme governance, you will contribute to defining and delivering quarterly scope through robust planning processes, ensuring technical coherence and achievable delivery commitments. You will also support delivery execution, helping to identify, resolve and escalate risks or blockers to maintain progress and maximise overall programme value.
