Job title: Senior Commercial Officer

Location: Portsmouth – Broad Oak. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Circa £45,000 commensurate on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Drafting and negotiating contractual agreements, including acceptable terms and conditions of contract
  • Working with other functional representatives, project teams, customers and suppliers to meet operational needs of line management and the business
  • Acting as the Commercial point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Developing commercial relationships with UK and International Customers
  • Formulating, negotiating, and obtaining approval for Agreements and Contract Amendments
  • Commercially exploit new technologies technology Intellectual Property
  • Ensuring compliance with BAE Systems policies and procedures together with the commercial aspects of the Life Cycle Management
  • Supporting continuous improvement and innovation within the Commercial team

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Broad professional knowledge of Commercial principles, techniques and practices and their application and understanding of the Commercial role in organisations
  • Good understanding of contract terms, contractual and legal frameworks with the ability to identify key contractual risks
  • Good understanding of Commercial interaction with customer support, finance, legal, procurement, project/programme management, engineering, business development, sales etc
  • Confident individual who can ask questions, help develop solutions by collaborating with the team to deliver our critical capability

Desirables:

  • IACCM – Practitioner level
  • An understanding of the defence sector
  • Some awareness of international competitors and partners
  • An understanding of international business

The BAE Systems Training and Simulation team:

BAE Systems Training & Simulation team combines platform and product expertise with simulation and modelling experience and offers innovative training courses, and high-fidelity simulators to maximise our customer’s operational effectiveness, improving platform availability and reducing operational risk. BAE Systems is the leading manufacturer of warfare operator training solutions for the UK, and we provide all the Royal Navy’s command team and warfare team trainers across surface, sub-surface, and mine warfare. You will have the opportunity to work on some exciting contracts and bids within the training and simulation area.
