Role Description:
Responsible for leading and coordinating engineering change activities to deliver safe, compliant and effective platform capability. The role ensures changes are managed through robust governance, effective stakeholder engagement and clear communication, enabling informed decision-making and alignment with industry standards. Working across a multi-disciplinary environment, the postholder will influence design, configuration and acceptance outcomes, providing oversight throughout the change lifecycle. The role requires strong collaboration, proactive problem solving and the ability to balance technical, operational and programme priorities. This position offers the opportunity to shape engineering change practices, drive continuous improvement and contribute to the successful delivery of complex platform programmes.
Core duties:
- Drive coordination of engineering change activity, ensuring changes are effectively managed, governed and progressed through clear oversight of risks, dependencies and delivery status.
- Ensure engineering change is robustly controlled by maintaining accurate plans and tracking tools that provide clear visibility of progress, impacts and decisions.
- Enable delivery of design change by contributing to development, configuration control, governance and acceptance activities, ensuring outcomes align with safety and operational requirements.
- Act as a key point of coordination across stakeholders, driving alignment, facilitating decisions and ensuring engineering queries are resolved effectively and efficiently.
- Support planning and execution of design change initiatives, contributing to reviews, readiness assessments and progress monitoring to drive timely and successful implementation.
- Strengthen team delivery by coordinating outputs, identifying process improvements, supporting colleagues and contributing to risk management and continuous improvement activities.
Essential Skills:
- You’ll have a sound understanding of engineering change, configuration management and systems engineering, with the ability to apply structured approaches to manage and control change effectively
- You’ll have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence in influencing decisions and clearly presenting technical information to varied audiences
- You’ll have experience using planning, reporting and engineering tools to manage delivery, track performance and support robust governance of engineering activities
- You’ll hold an engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent experience) and be working towards, or have an interest in achieving, professional registration
The Warship Technical Authority (WTA) Service Hub:
This position sits within the Warship Technical Authority (WTA) Service Hub. The WTA aims to deliver Naval whole ship, systems, equipment and change management support.
As Senior Change Management Engineer within the WTA, you will provide engineering support to programmes and projects within Warship Support. Such programmes/projects include Royal Navy surface ship support contracts, International naval support contracts, and Internal and external engineering consultancy projects.
