Job Description

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence is home to 4,500 digital, cyber and intelligence experts. We work collaboratively across 10 countries to collect, connect and understand complex data, so that governments, nation states, armed forces and commercial businesses can unlock digital advantage in the most demanding environments.

The purpose of the Project Support Officer (PSO) role is to provide high‑quality project coordination, governance and delivery support across projects and services. The role supports Project Managers and Senior Project Professionals to ensure that projects are planned, controlled, governed and delivered in line with agreed objectives, standards and methodologies.

The Project Support Officer is a junior project professional who already has foundational experience in a project or delivery environment and is developing their capability across project coordination, reporting, assurance and stakeholder support

A Project Support Officer will work across a variety of project and service delivery teams, supporting the end‑to‑end project lifecycle and contributing to the successful delivery of outcomes for external clients and/or internal customers. Working alongside experienced Project Management professionals, the PSO will apply established project management tools, techniques and controls to support effective decision‑making, risk management, scheduling, financial control and reporting.

The role provides exposure to multiple projects or workstreams and supports professional development towards more senior project roles. In addition, the Project Support Officer will contribute to continuous improvement activities within the Project Management function and develop strong working relationships across delivery, technical and commercial teams. The role also includes building an understanding of the organisation’s values, governance frameworks, structures and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Support Officer will typically be responsible for the following activities:

  • Provide day‑to‑day project coordination and administrative support across one or more projects or workstreams.
  • Support Project Managers and Senior Project Professionals in mobilising project teams, including coordinating activities with suppliers, contractors and associates.
  • Contribute to the planning, tracking and control of project activities across all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Define, document and deliver small projects or work packages (e.g. limited budget and complexity), under appropriate supervision.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, including project plans, schedules, RAID logs, quality plans and governance artefacts.
  • Produce accurate and timely project reporting on progress, risks, issues, costs, resources and milestones for project managers and stakeholders.
  • Identify risks and issues within assigned workstreams and propose mitigations and escalation options where required.
  • For small projects or product sales, monitor costs, timescales and resource usage within defined tolerances, highlighting variances or emerging issues to senior project professionals.
  • Support change control activities, including impact assessments and documentation updates.
  • Assist in ensuring projects and work packages are formally closed, lessons learned are captured, and project documentation is completed and archived appropriately.
  • Support senior project professionals with ad‑hoc delivery activities, assurance reviews, and preparation for governance forums.
  • Contribute to identifying opportunities for follow‑on or additional work related to existing projects or services.

This role requires a TSPV clearance. NV2 might be considered.
