Job Title: Production Planning and Scheduling Manager

Location: Portsmouth – On site

Salary: Up to £61,000 dependent on skills and experience + 10% Bonus

Job Description:

This role oversees Production Planning processes across Upkeep and FTSP projects, with full responsibility for planning and work enablement. It reports functionally to the Production Planning and Controls Manager and is assigned to a Class Program Manager or Upkeep PM.

The position leads a professional team, managing performance, delivery, and development. It requires specialist knowledge in planning, scheduling, or bid practices, with the ability to adapt methods, improve processes, and guide others effectively.

Core duties:

  • Managing the processes that ensure accurate approved data is provided to the delivery teams through the ERP system
  • Provide guidance and direction to the Class or Upkeep planning team in accordance with planning standards and processes to ensure they provide a professional service and deliver a quality output
  • Work collaboratively and lead in issue resolution with other areas of the project teams to ensure the schedule is deliverable and the work is enabled to the correct standard that allows for delivery and schedule adherence
  • Be responsible for submitting resource demand information which will then be signed off and sent to the function so that robust supply solutions are in place to deliver all commitments across a trade grouping and multiple platforms
  • Drive and encourage good behaviors that enable high standards of Planning. It is important targets are met but in the right way

Essential Skills:

  • You will bring good, practical experience across core project management areas—planning & scheduling, risk and opportunity management, lifecycle delivery, and stakeholder engagement
  • You will draw on experience in complex engineering environments, applying robust project planning best practices
  • You will ideally have maritime sector experience or familiarity working with the Ministry of Defence
  • You will lead planning teams day-to-day—driving performance, supporting development, and managing attendance, change control, overtime, and financial outcomes
  • You will use SAP confidently to support planning processes and improve operational efficiency

The Production Planning Team:

The team manages Production Planning across Upkeep and FTSP projects for the Royal Naval Fleet, ensuring effective planning and seamless work enablement. They play a key role in coordinating activities, supporting delivery, and maintaining operational readiness across complex, high-profile programmes.
