Job Description:

As a Technology Procurement Manager for Infrastructure, Engineering Platforms and Software, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and managing major areas of the organisation’s technology spend. You will use your commercial expertise to lead sourcing activity, develop category strategies and partner with IT leadership to support informed commercial decision‑making across both the Infrastructure and IT Engineering domains.

Core duties:

  • Lead, develop and motivate a high‑performing procurement team, providing coaching, direction and support across both Infrastructure and IT Engineering categories
  • Set clear objectives and ensure effective workload management across strategic sourcing, contract management and supplier relationship management activities
  • Develop and implement a combined sourcing strategy across the UK technology infrastructure, engineering platforms and software spend.
  • Lead sourcing projects covering cloud platforms, networks, datacentre services, platform engineering services, DevOps tooling, end‑user technology and core software agreements
  • Act as commercial lead and strategic partner for key suppliers across infrastructure, engineering and software domains.
  • Engage proactively with IT Infrastructure, Engineering, Architecture, Cyber Security, Finance and business stakeholders to understand future demand and technology trajectories
  • Provide commercial leadership on complex issues, guiding IT leadership through decision points with clear analysis, recommendations and market insight

Essential Skills:

  • Experience procuring technology solutions within infrastructure, engineering platforms, cloud services or software categories
  • Strong understanding of technology supply markets (cloud, networks, engineering toolchains, platforms, enterprise software)
  • Demonstrated success in leading supplier management, including major technology vendors and managed service providers
  • Experience managing, coaching or mentoring teams
  • MCIPS qualified or currently studying toward accreditation

The Infrastructure and IT Engineering Team:

Working closely with Architecture, Engineering, Cyber, Infrastructure and Programme teams, you will influence and contribute to the sourcing strategies underpinning the organisation’s technology roadmap — across datacentre, cloud, networks, end‑user compute, DevOps toolchains, platform engineering services and software agreements. Your leadership will help ensure the organisation achieves strong commercial outcomes, supplier resilience and long‑term value.

This role also offers exposure across the breadth of Indirect Procurement, collaborating with multiple category teams, supporting cross‑functional initiatives and helping to shape how technology is sourced and managed across the organisation.
