Who we are:
Join BAE Systems and you’ll be part of something bigger. You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering the advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions of tomorrow, shaping a safer future, for all of us.
From the depths of the ocean, to the far reaches of space, there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.
What you’ll be doing:
In this role, as part of the Trustee & Member Services team, you will support the Head of Defined Benefit Pensions and the Head of Defined Contribution Pensions, to ensure the effective delivery of pension projects across all United Kingdom Company pension schemes. You will take responsibility for managing and overseeing all defined benefit scheme projects, including scheme events such as pension increases, annual benefit statements, annual newsletters, and valuation data extracts. You will work closely with the Third Party Administrators and the Change Portfolio Manager to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in line with contractual obligations and service level agreements. You will also ensure that all required project governance documentation is completed accurately and promptly, and that pension schemes remain fully compliant with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, contributing to the smooth operation of the wider Head Office Pensions team.
Core duties:
- Broad understanding of pensions, with experience either within a pension consultancy, third-party administrator, or in-house pensions team
- Experience of delivering pensions projects and managing associated administration activities
- Technical knowledge of pensions legislation, compliance requirements, and industry best practice
- Ability to prepare, draft, and review pensions communications, including benefit statements, newsletters, and member correspondence
- Proven Microsoft Excel skills to support project reporting, data analysis, and governance documentation
- Attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Trustees, advisers, and providers, demonstrating effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Pensions qualifications such as the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) qualification, part-qualified status, or equivalent are desirable
The Pensions Team:
You will join the Trustee & Member Services pensions team, reporting to the Head of Defined Benefit Pensions, and play a key role in supporting both projects in our Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution schemes across the United Kingdom. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver important projects, working closely with Trustee Boards, scheme advisers, providers, and other key stakeholders across the pensions function. The role offers excellent exposure to complex, high-profile projects, giving you the chance to make a real impact on the smooth running of the Company’s pension arrangements while developing your expertise in a collaborative and fast-moving environment.
