About the OPPORTUNITY

We currently have an opportunity for a Occupational Hygienist based at our Williamtown, NSW Offices. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will provide specialist advice and expertise in SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) principles and practices to continuously enhance the Occupational Hygiene program and ensure compliance with legal obligations and Company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a positive health and safety culture by delivering expert guidance, practical solutions, and mentoring to manage risks associated with chemical, biological, and physical exposures that may impact the health of personnel, the community and or the environment.
  • Design, implement, and maintain programs, policies, and procedures that monitor and safeguard employee health, ensure regulatory compliance, and support ongoing improvements in the organisation’s health and wellbeing strategy.
  • Play a critical role in safeguarding employee health by providing expert advice, technical support, and strategic guidance to business units and functional programs.
  • Develop and deliver training packages for occupational hygiene risks.
  • Provide expert advice and collaborate with operational teams to resolve complex occupational health issues.
  • Analyse research data, interpret findings, compile reports, and present actionable recommendations.
  • Conduct regular internal audits of occupational hygiene programs and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

About YOU

  • Australian Citizen, eligible to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance (Essential).
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Competent in using occupational hygiene monitoring equipment and interpreting results in line with relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Knowledge and practical application of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and standards (e.g., WHS Regulations, Safe Work Australia guidance, ISO 45001).
  • Demonstrated experience in occupational hygiene or related discipline within a complex, high-risk industry (e.g., defence, mining, oil & gas, manufacturing, or similar).
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace hazards, including chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic risks.
  • Experience in designing and delivering health and hygiene awareness training programs to employees and management.
  • Certification as a Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) through AIOH or an equivalent international organisation or demonstratable progress towards certification is highly desirable.
