Job Description:

The Demand Shaping Analyst operates within the early stages of the demand lifecycle within the Demand Shaping team. The role works with customers, business stakeholders, Architects, technical teams and Partners to understand and clearly define new demand before it progresses into formal Initiation and delivery.

The Demand Shaping Analyst supports the completion of initial and technical assessments, clarifies the scope and intended outcomes of demand, challenges assumptions and produces a clear proposal for consideration through the relevant governance process.

Core duties:

• Work with customers to understand the business problem, opportunity, scope, intended outcomes and drivers behind new demand
• Challenge solution-led requests and stakeholder assumptions to ensure the underlying business need is clearly defined
• Produce demand proposals that capture the scope, outcomes, assumptions, risks, dependencies, indicative costs and recommended next steps
• Identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities across Demand Shaping, the wider DPMO and the end-to-end strategic demand pipeline
• Use data and management information to identify process inefficiencies, recurring issues, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement
• Contribute to non-project consultancy activity where appropriate, including options papers, feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, return-on-investment analysis, gap analysis and scenario analysis

Essential Skills:

• Extensive Business Analysis experience within a complex organisation
• Understanding of digital, data, or technology delivery models (e.g., Agile)
• Enterprise awareness, considering demand across business areas, capabilities, processes, systems and services
• Stakeholder management and communication skills
• The ability to engage, influence and constructively challenge senior and technical stakeholders

The Enterprise IT Demand Management team

The team manage all demand coming into EIT as well as forecasting future demand and the delivery capacity required to meet the pipeline. Ensuring alignment and simplified governance is key. We work closely with BAE business sectors to assure alignment to Functional, Enterprise Technology and Sector Roadmaps.
