About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for an Integration Engineering Team Lead to join the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) program within our Battlespace Integrated Solutions business. This key role will report to the Operations Centre IPT Lead based in Edinburgh, Adelaide and will be offered on a permanent full time basis.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight.
The JORN has been a part of our nation’s defence landscape for many decades and comprises three Over-The-Horizon-Radar (OTHR) systems to provide surveillance coverage of our northern border. BAE Systems has been awarded the contract to manage the sustainment and upgrade of this 100 percent Australian solution that is strategically important to Australia’s security.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the overall subsystem engineering integration of the operations centre
- Plan, conduct and test the system integration engineering activities, and manage the progress of those activities
- Identify technical issues through the system integration engineering process, and liaise with software and ICT teams to resolve technical issues
- Lead and manage a small integration engineering team, coach and develop personnel, ensuring services provided meet business objectives
- Act as a Control Account Manager (CAM), and manage budget and delivery scope responsibilities
- Act as point of contact and provide technical advice on system integration engineering activities, collaborate effectively and build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Support set to work test activities to confirm the ICT has been installed correctly and capable of running the Operations Centre software
- Engage with the end user to support live test events and troubleshoot issues encountered
About YOU
- Extensive system integration experience in an ICT or software development environment
- A tertiary engineering or ICT degree
- People leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to manage a team and provide effective leadership, direction and motivation
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills, the ability to effectively articulate complex problems to stakeholders
- Exposure to containerisation and continuous integration pipelines
- Knowledge of systems engineering, well organised, and good attention to detail
- Whilst not essential, defence industry experience will be highly regarded
