About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for an ICT Engineer (Systems Configuration / Integration & Test Engineer) to join our Defence Sustainment Solutions line of business based at Tonsley.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the ICT technical solution, as a senior ICT engineer with specific skills in analysis, architecture, networking or system administration.

You will ensure ICT work is undertaken in accordance with the applicable plans, procedures or processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage identification and resolution of issues associated with the execution of ICT activities across the relevant scope of work
  • Oversee a development laboratory workspace to facilitate the integration, configuration, verification and validation of hardware and software systems
  • Lead the commissioning of the configured hardware and software systems at a Customer site
  • Ensure collection and analysis of relevant ICT metrics to provide timely information on the status of the ICT program, taking appropriate corrective action, as required
  • Manage delivery of relevant products through the engineering lifecycle
  • Lead effectively a technical scope (analysis, architecture, system administration, technical support or network design)
  • Work with minimal guidance
  • Interface with other teams on the project ensuring that the broader project team’s needs are taken into account
  • Responsible for defining and maintaining elements of the project’s plans, and performing ICT tasks in accordance with those plans

About YOU

  • Degree in engineering, information technology, computer science, or other related area; or Diploma in applicable technical domain
  • Significant experience in ICT, including demonstrated practical integration of ICT systems
  • Proficient skills in teamwork, collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated analysis skills, critical thinking and problem solving
  • Able to interpret and clarify ambiguous requirements
  • High level of ability in validating solutions against customer needs and requirements
  • Extensive experience in providing guidance and expertise on the systems, applications, networks, requirements or concepts, as applicable, including to external stakeholders
  • Understanding and experience of governance adherence in the initiative/project lifecycle
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • An up to date knowledge of the relevant technology for the role
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment or autonomously
  • Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
