Job Description

Job title: Data Protection Professional

Location: Preston. We offer a range of flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role.

Salary: Circa £32,000 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the Shared Services Personal Data Protection Lead (DP Lead) in ensuring the business is compliant with Personal Data Protection policy and meets GDPR regulations.
  • Assist the DP Lead in undertaking data protection investigations, ensuring that all incidents, post recovery, have underlying root cause and corrective actions that drive prevention are tracked
  • Analyse incident data and risks to determine if there are trends/ themes/ reoccurring themes pinpointing weaknesses in controls for further assurance focus
  • Support the DP Lead with audits across Shared Services
  • Facilitate and monitor the completion of Privacy Impact Assessments for new processing activities
  • Support the DP Lead in ensuring appropriate training on data protection matters is available and is delivered appropriately
  • Facilitate and monitor updates for the Processing Activities undertaken by Shared Services
  • Manage incoming communications through team mailbox, assessing and directing as appropriate

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • An understanding of the importance of Personal Data Protection
  • Desire to work towards a CIPM or CIPP/E qualification (if not already held)
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis
  • IT literate (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint) & comfortable learning the operation of new IT systems to support role delivery
  • Knowledge of risk management

Desirable:

  • Interest in Information & Records Management and Quality
  • Experience in undertaking Personal Data Protection incident investigations and/or governance
  • Knowledge and experience of information and data protection controls
