Role Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Administrator / Cyber Security Analyst to join our Defence Delivery team based at Richmond – VIC. Defence Delivery sits within the Digital, Data and Cyber Security portfolio, delivering a broad range of capabilities with operational excellence, working in an inclusive ‘everyone’ culture.

We are building a team to assist in the design and operational management of ICT security systems and associated infrastructure on the Nulka program. You would be part of a small, high performing team based at Richmond, where each member is valued for their specific skillsets and contributions. This is an on-site opportunity and part time working arrangement option can be considered for the right candidate.

Reporting to the Cyber Security Manager, the successful candidate will be supported to build on their existing system administrator skillsets and really own their work, with high level of independence required at times. We are looking for a resourceful and motivated individual who is up for the challenge of working with world-class, complex and unique capabilities.

Core Duties:

  • Assist in ensuring that the classified project environment and its management infrastructure platforms meet the current performance, reliability, and security requirements
  • Assist with the planning, design, and implementation of classified project environment subsystems by utilising best practice approaches to develop, test, evaluate, and install enhancements and new systems that meet architectural, customer and business requirements
  • Apply security patches to system applications and ensure cyber security documentation is up to date
  • Package, deliver and support applications operating within the classified project environment, ensuring they remain compliant against frameworks
  • Assist in the effective operation of network security infrastructure including SIEM, vulnerability management, endpoint security, firewall, network and host IPS and device control technologies across multiple platforms and environments
  • Provide technical advice to the business and customers in the day-to-day delivery of services, including responding to user problems and rectifying faults
  • Provide assistance in developing sound and accurate security accreditation documentation
  • Identify process improvement to optimise service delivery and cost benefit to the business and customers

Essential Skills:

  • Extensive Systems Administrator or ICT experience, including Windows Server 2022 and, Windows 11 Operating Systems
  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles, technologies, and practices
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISM, NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls) and their application in enterprise environments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and recommend effective solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bonus points for experience administering VMware vSphere and Horizon environments
  • A current NV2 level Australian Defence security clearance
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
