Role Description
The Systems Administrator is responsible for administering, supporting, and continuously improving the systems that underpin the organisation’s end‑user and infrastructure services. This role is focused on the Windows Server, Linux, Database and Networking environments used within this environment.
The Systems Administrator will deliver operational support, lifecycle sustainment, and infrastructure enhancements, ensuring highly available, secure, and well-automated systems.
This position is ideally suited to a well-rounded IT Systems Administrator who is passionate about administrating, securing, and automating systems across multiple disciplines, and who is seeking depth of technical ownership, exposure to modern tooling, and clear pathways for professional growth.
Core Duties:
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for all systems that are used within this environment, resolving service requests and incidents within agreed SLAs
- Lead sustainment and lifecycle management activities, including patching, upgrades, and capacity planning
- Work closely with the Systems Administration Manager to plan and execute platform improvements and risk mitigation activities
- Develop, maintain, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation
- Drive automation and consistency across the environments
- Take a senior technical role in server provisioning, operating system deployment, and platform integration across on‑premises and Azure environments
- Ensure systems are configured and maintained in accordance with security hardening standards, compliance requirements, and Defence security frameworks
About YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong, hands-on experience administering multi discipline environments, with Operating System, Networking and Database expertise considered highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience with system hardening, patching, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Experience working within Defence or highly regulated security environments is advantageous
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain NV2 Defence Security Clearance
- Eligibility to comply with International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations
