Role Description:
Working with our Combat Systems line of business, this role supports the management of all Estimating and Pricing activities to ensure integrity and transparency of financial and pricing data and to facilitate planning and decision-making for the CSI-IPT and Industry Participants.
These activities will include pricing, estimating, cost modelling, planning, formulation, review and analysis of all cost estimates, including supporting major project Estimate At Complete (EAC) reviews and business analysis. The Estimating & Pricing Officer role will also support mobilisation activities including processes, tools, governance and reporting set up. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex data, providing meaningful insights, and contributing to successful project and business outcomes.
Core Duties:
- Support the development of Tasking Statements, Work Package Proposals, and bid submissions, ensuring compliant and value-for-money outcomes.
- Develop and maintain pricing models, estimates, and Basis of Estimates (BoEs), collaborating with subject matter experts throughout the bid lifecycle.
- Review and validate, cost build-ups, risk assessments, and supporting documentation to ensure pricing integrity and compliance with organisational and contractual requirements.
- Prepare pricing submissions, customer pricing tables, management review packs, phase review documentation, Green Team Review (GTR) materials, and financial summaries to support bid governance and approval processes.
- Develop and present commercial pricing responses covering foreign exchange, warranties, escalation, price variation, payment terms, milestone schedules, priced options, and other commercial considerations.
- Maintain complete audit trails from tender submission through contract award and support project start-up activities, including budget establishment aligned to negotiated pricing structures.
- Lead and facilitate Estimate at Completion (EAC) reviews, Monte Carlo modelling activities, and cost, schedule, and risk analysis for major projects.
- Provide pricing and financial expertise to support business opportunities, contract variations, and foreign exchange considerations.
- Collaborate effectively with Commercial, Finance, Project Management, and technical stakeholders to achieve bid and project objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement of estimating, pricing, bid management processes, tools, and methodologies.
About You:
- Experience in estimating, pricing, cost analysis, financial modelling, or a related analytical discipline, including the development and analysis of cost estimates, pricing models, and financial data.
- Understanding of bid, tender, and proposal development processes, including exposure to customer submissions.
- Knowledge of estimating methodologies, Basis of Estimates (BoEs), cost build-up techniques, pricing principles, and risk assessment practices.
- Understanding of government contracting requirements and contractual pricing obligations (desirable).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational information and ensure pricing accuracy and compliance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of pricing and proposal documentation.
- Tertiary qualifications, trade qualifications, or equivalent experience in business, finance, engineering, project management, or business support functions in Defence and/or related industries is desirable
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with the ability to develop and analyse cost models, estimates, and pricing data. Experience with estimating and pricing tools such as ProPricer or equivalent platforms is desirable.
- As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances
