Role Description:

We have an excellent opportunity for a Configuration Controller within Maritime Sustainment BU based in Adelaide.

The Configuration Controller (CC) is responsible for implementing the Configuration Management Practices and systems within a project in accordance with the processes in the Business Management System (BMS) including any sector specific procedures and the project Configuration Management Plan (CMP).

This includes Configuration Management (CM) Planning, Product Identification & Control including the Product Breakdown Structure, Documentation Identification & Control, Configuration Baseline Management, Configuration Status Accounting and Reporting and Configuration Audits.

Core Duties:

  • Lead and contribute to the day-to-day conduct of configuration tasks including managing data, parts, software and documents in soft and hardcopy using Company systems and processes
  • Liaise with project staff (particularly the project engineers), other groups and teams including the customer to resolve CM issues and ensure the detailed configuration of the project remains known and under control, and that the product configuration can be accurately reported on.
  • Monitor and contribute to the configuration change control process, and assist in processing Engineering Changes and affected configuration documentation
  • Contributes to the integrity of the CM system, including processes, procedures and tools supporting CM in the project environment including checking the CM data / metadata in the CM system for accuracy, currency and completeness, and that documentation / data is categorised and organised correctly
  • Update the Product Breakdown Structure in the CM system and ensure approved documentation, including engineering drawings, is linked to the correct part in the Product Breakdown Structure
  • Produce Configuration Status Accounting Reports; Master Record Indexes; Build State Declarations, material for project review activities (SSR, DDR, etc.)
  • Propose, develop and test new functionality for introduction into the electronic configuration management support system

About You

  • Demonstrated CM experience in one or more engineering environments in a CM role, or and engineering / technical role involving significant CM involvement, including at least one defence project
  • Significant experience in the use of recognised CM tools and associated databases
  • Experience or potential to manage a CM related technical team, including interfacing with engineering / technical personnel
  • Experience in conducting PCAs/FCAs would be desirable
  • Engineering degree or relevant technical diploma or certificate desirable, or related discipline or trade skill with suitable experience
  • Skills in people management, problem solving and conflict management is desirable
