About the OPPORTUNITY
We are currently looking for a Category Specialist – Software Renewal to join our Category Management team, reporting to the Category Manager.
As a Category Specialist-Software Renewal you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of software renewals, ensuring commercial optimization, risk mitigation, and alignment with organizational licensing and technology strategies. This role partners closely with DDC, Finance, Legal, and vendors to drive cost savings, improve renewal governance, and support long-term software asset management objectives.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build, maintain, and actively manage a comprehensive software renewal calendar covering all but not limited to enterprise applications and vendors.
- Lead commercial negotiations with software vendors to achieve cost savings, improved contractual terms, and increased flexibility.
- Initiate renewal planning 6–12 months in advance, including usage analysis, demand validation, and commercial strategy development.
- Monitor vendor performance and challenge non-standard pricing, uplifts, and unfavourable renewal conditions.
- Applying strong commercial skills to facilitate umbrella-style contracting and enable efficient execution of Enterprise Agreements (EAs).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on category initiatives.
- Apply project management skillset to delivery of procurement projects, ensuring delivery on time and on budget.
About YOU
- Strong experience in Procurement and/or Supply Chain.
- Previous exposure working with Software/IT background will be highly regarded.
- Previous exposure working with Software/IT background
- A Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) would be highly regarded.
- Ability to effectively manage stakeholder expectations and deliver on commitments.
- Defence security clearance eligibility to obtain.
