About the opportunity

We currently have a rewarding opportunity to join us as a CDS Project Manager where you will be part of the exciting and dynamic Project Management team, supporting them through all stages of the project lifecycle. Working under the direction of the DSS Product Owner, you will be responsible for managing a Product Suite, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services to our customers.

This role can be based out of our offices located in ACT-Canberra, SA – RAAF Edinburgh or VIC – Richmond

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.

Key responsibilities will include:

Oversight and management of a assigned CDS product suite, including:

  • Project Planning: Define objectives, allocate resources (staff and materials), and create actionable plans.
  • Budget Management: Develop estimates, monitor expenditures, and prepare product status reports.
  • Time Management: Create schedules, set milestones, and track progress to ensure timely delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement controls to uphold product and service excellence.
  • LCM Phase Reviews: Conduct periodic reviews to align with organisational controls.
  • Reporting: Deliver comprehensive project updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify, map, and mitigate project risks.

Order Coordination and Delivery

Coordinate CDS product and service orders, in close collaboration with CDS ICT engineers and BAE Systems resellers.

Customer and Market Support

Manage Maintenance & Support, and Extended Warranty services for the CDS customer base.

Collaborate with technology partners and suppliers to build relationships and establish vendor and reseller arrangements that maximise CDS product and service sales.

Tender and Proposal Development

Lead the creation of tenders and quotations for CDS offerings, integrating products, engineering development, engineering services, and tailored support solutions.

Bespoke Project Management

Oversee bespoke CDS projects as directed by the CDS Product Manager, ensuring alignment with established BAE processes.

Product Knowledge

Maintain an in-depth understanding of CDS hardware and software products to provide effective sales support and strengthen reseller partnerships.

About YOU

You’ll have:

  • Team orientation with a high level of written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders from all levels and from a range of disciplines
  • Previous experience in Project Management, Project Controls or similar roles
  • A formal qualification in a Project Management-related discipline or working towards one is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills, together with a high degree of motivation, initiative and enthusiasm
  • Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under your own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost
  • A curious mindset and ability to integrate and extract information
  • An ability to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision and guidance and using your own experience, judgement and initiative
  • Ability to obtain Australian Defence security clearance of Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) is required
