Job Title: Bid Lead
Location: Glascoed, 2-3 days per week onsite.

What you’ll be doing:
In this role, you will lead the full lifecycle of bids, from opportunity qualification through to final submission. You’ll establish bid plans, schedules and governance deliverables, ensuring all activity aligns with security protocols and export‑control requirements. You’ll also facilitate bid kick‑off sessions, solution workshops, and cost reviews to keep the process on track.
You will ensure proposals reflect customer needs, strategy, and capture plans while coordinating input from technical, commercial, operations, and finance teams. You’ll develop compelling bid narratives, compliance matrices, and executive summaries, ensuring every submission is compliant, high‑quality, and fully endorsed by the business.
Core duties:
- You will have experience of understanding customer requirements and translating these into solutions, delivered within budget/timescales
- Ensure you have experience of leading bids or proposals over £5 million in a technical, engineering, or defence environment
- A solid understanding of bid lifecycle management and gated governance processes
- Know-how of managing multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining quality under tight deadlines
- You will hold an APMP/Shipley qualifications or equivalent bid/proposal management certification. Project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM, PMP) beneficial
The Business Development Team:
The team leads high‑value, strategic bids, planning and delivering compliant, competitive well-governed proposals across multiple munitions projects. The role places you at the centre of major, complex bids, working closely with Business Development Managers. You’ll support bid preparation for a wide range of defence projects, while collaborating with internal teams such as Commercial, Engineering, Finance and Operations to ensure bids are accurately costed, risk‑assessed and compelling and engaging with customers. The position offers broad project exposure, opportunities to develop diverse skills and professional development support.
