Job Description

Are you passionate about driving Cloud efficiency and cost optimisation? Do you have deep expertise in FinOps principles and a track record of applying them to maximise value for customers? Join BAE Systems Digital Intelligence as a FinOps Specialist and help customers unlock the full value of AWS in the defence and national security domains.

As a FinOps Specialist, you will play a critical role in advising a business unit of over 300 people on how to make their cloud-based capabilities more efficient and cost-effective. You will work at both the strategic level, helping customers understand and adopt FinOps practices, and at the technical level, collaborating with product architects and engineering teams to architect solutions with cost considered from the outset.

Our customers are starting a journey to migrate their capabilities to the cloud, creating a significant opportunity for FinOps expertise to deliver value. You will help us develop FinOps strategies and approaches, influencing customers to leverage these services to optimise their cloud investments.

This is a hands-on role where you will influence architectural decisions, advise on AWS cost optimisation strategies, and champion FinOps principles across internal teams and external stakeholders.

About You

You will have experience in many of the following:

  • Applying FinOps principles to drive cloud efficiency and cost optimisation in large-scale environments.
  • Deep understanding of AWS technologies, pricing models, and cost management tools.
  • Advising on cloud architecture to embed cost efficiency and scalability.
  • Developing and marketing FinOps offerings to customers, including creating compelling value propositions.
  • Engaging with senior stakeholders to align cloud efficiency strategies with business objectives.
  • Building business cases for cloud optimisation initiatives supported by robust data and analysis.
  • Familiarity with government or regulated environments (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication skills to influence technical and non-technical audiences.

Security Clearance is required for this role. If you are not currently Security Cleared, you will need to be eligible and willing to go through the process.

How we will support you

  • Work-life balance is important; you can work around core hours with flexible and part-time working
  • As many of our customers work predominantly in the office, we expect all of our staff to work at least 3 days per week in the office
  • You’ll get 25 days holiday a year and the option to buy/sell and carry over from the year before
  • Our flexible benefits package includes private medical and dental insurance, a competitive pension scheme, cycle to work scheme, taste cards and more
  • You’ll have a dedicated Career Manager to help you develop your career and guide you on your journey through BAE
  • You’ll be part of our company bonus scheme
  • You are welcome to join any/all of our Diversity and Support groups. These groups cover everything from gender diversity to mental health and wellbeing
