As a valued member of our global colleague network, you’ll bring your unique skills and perspectives to help pioneer progress and protect what matters most. You’ll be trusted to play your part in delivering the advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions of tomorrow – shaping a safer future, for all of us.

From the depths of the ocean, to the far reaches of space – there’s no limit to where a career at BAE Systems could take you.

Role Description:

As an Associate Project Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Engineering team on the SSN-AUKUS program, one of Australia’s most significant national defence initiatives. Working closely with Engineering Lead and wider Engineering team, you will provide project coordination, reporting, governance and bid support across a range of ongoing proposal and contract change activities for the Engineering Integrated Project Team (IPT).

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and commercially aware project professional who enjoys working across multiple priorities, coordinating diverse stakeholders and transforming complex information into meaningful reports and presentations. You’ll support the successful planning, development and governance of proposals by maintaining critical bid documentation, tracking progress against milestones, analysing data and helping ensure delivery of high-quality outcomes in a secure and highly regulated environment.

Core Duties:

  • Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple bid and proposal activities across the Engineering IPT.
  • Contribute to the delivery of key program outcomes by supporting stakeholders to achieve deliverables in line with schedules and governance requirements.
  • Maintain action registers, compliance documentation and governance artefacts for the Engineering IPT.
  • Monitor progress against milestones and help identify risks, dependencies and emerging issues.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards and presentations that provide meaningful insights to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Analyse project and bid-related data to support planning, reporting and decision-making.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, track actions and support effective communication across teams.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of bid management, reporting and governance processes.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in a Project Coordinator, PMO, Project Support, Bid Support or similar role.
  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, with experience analysing data and preparing reports.
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting project delivery, governance, reporting or bid activities.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance.

The AUKUS Team

In early 2024, the Australian Government selected BAE Systems and ASC Pty Ltd to build Australia’s new fleet of nuclear-powered submarines in a significant development in the AUKUS trilateral security pact between the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. This program will focus on developing advanced submarine capabilities, integrating cutting-edge technology, and fostering international cooperation among Australia, the UK, and the US.
