CONFIGURATION CONTROLLER

Role Description:

The Configuration Controller (CC) leads and contributes to the day-to-day conduct of configuration tasks including managing data, parts, software and documents in soft and hardcopy using Company systems and processes.

The CC liaises with project staff (particularly the project engineers), other groups and teams including the customer to resolve CM issues and ensure the detailed configuration of the project remains known and under control, and that the product configuration can be accurately reported on. The CC provides advice, support and training as required to project staff.

Core Duties:

  • Ensure data and documentation related to a Product is captured in the CM System and that the approval status of the data and documentation is correct
  • Assist in identifying problems related to Data & Documentation Control procedures or systems, and liaise with other groups / teams for resolution
  • Provide guidance on document formatting and application of project file naming conventions (including electronic file names)
  • Identify and investigate CM problems, whether processes, systems, tools or staff, and formulate strategies for their resolution
  • Communicate within the CM team to effectively raise issues to senior staff and relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare for and satisfy CM audit schedule, including FCA, PCA and Quality audits of CM
  • The CC is responsible to support the Configuration Manager in the conduct of the Configuration Control Board activities and to respond to allocated actions from the Configuration Control Board
  • The CC ensures classified information and Export Controlled Material under Configuration Control is protected and handled in accordance with company and Defence Security / Export Control regulation requirements as applicable

KEY CRITERIA:

  • Experience as a Project Administrator/ data administrator / configuration controller is considered desirable
  • Experience working in the defence industry is considered advantageous
  • Expertise working with a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool is considered advantageous
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV1 Clearance
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
