TOPSHOP and TOPMAN are iconic British fashion brands with 60 years of heritage. Headquartered in London, the Brands have over 2 million customers across the globe through the ASOS platform and generate brand sales of c£200m. Following the formation of a Joint Venture between ASOS and HEARTLAND in October 2024, ASOS is creating a standalone cross-functional team within ASOS which is dedicated to unlocking the huge growth potential of the TOPSHOP and TOPMAN brands. The brands will now benefit from ASOS infrastructure and resources while enjoying the creative freedom and agility of standalone brands.
The next 12 months for TOPSHOP and TOPMAN will see the expansion of the brands’ offline and online retail presence with the launch of Topshop.com and new wholesale partnerships.
Job Description
The technical team at Topshop are all about achieving the right product quality that not only looks great but fits well and is fantastic value for money. They work closely with the Buying and Merchandising teams and are a key support to Design and Ethical. They are constantly striving to find ways to make sure all our products reach the customers looking the best they can. A desire to improve quality and fit, and the ability to work within a diverse team, build relationships at business and supplier level, and be able to think on your feet in such a fast-paced environment are all essential to being a member of the Topshop Technical team.
What you'll be doing...
- Strong multi-product experience with a premium attention to detail on product construction across; Jersey, True knitwear, Denim, Softs, Tailoring, Outerwear.
- Support Lead Technologist in driving Business Technical strategy contributing towards the business targets and objectives managing multi product departments.
- Drive and support technical team to deliver execute departmental customer returns strategy to drive reduction in returns rates to support cost savings
- Driving improved management of fitting process within dept and across suppliers, supporting speed, reduction in samples and cost savings.
- Build/develop new processes and pioneering/industry leading technologies to support continuous improvement in quality, speed to market and product innovation.
- Drive and implement internal WOW with Design, Buying and Suppliers to ensure quality and premium finish is built into product at very early development stage.
- Strong Offshore Techncial audit and manufacturing knowledge.
- Drive and Implement supplier quality performance strategy, ensuring optimised sealing hit rate, driving block management- leading to improved customer quality perception and reduce customer returns.
- Drive and support business shift from Quality Control to Quality Assurance for all production stages offering technical guidelines, product specification knowledge and proactive processes within supplier base
- Drive Technical capabilities within the supplier base to deliver quality, placing the right product in the right factory with right cost and right lead time
- Support and drive in the review and update of the technical manual to deliver leading quality, make up and construction standard guidelines
Qualifications
Who we'd like to meet...
- Significant experience in a Senior Garment Technologist role, with extensive knowledge of multi-product and experience leading a team
- Specialized in True knitwear, Denim, Jersey, Softs, Tailoring, Outerwear
- Passionate about the role and driving high standards of quality and fit within your department(s)
- Expert knowledge of pattern cutting and grading
- Significate experience of working within a high street retailer and/or supplier / manufacturer
- Adapt to and drive change and take the initiative
- Strong communication and networking skills across all levels and stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build cross-functional relationships across the business and with suppliers
- Reliable, flexible, and good at leading a fast-paced team
- Good working knowledge of MS Office
- Strong leadership, organisational and prioritisation skills
- Experience in leading and developing more junior team members, harnessing talent within the team and supporting their individual development needs.
