Job Description

Topshop is looking for a highly creative Senior Assistant Designer (Multi-product) to support the Design team in driving innovation, trend direction and standout fashion across multiple product categories. This role is perfect for someone with a strong eye for trend spotting, excellent garment construction understanding and a passion for creating new silhouettes. Working within a fast-paced, trend-led environment, you’ll play a key part in bringing unique and original product to life — not just reproducing what already exists in the market.

You will work closely with Designers, Buyers and Technical teams to develop commercially exciting product ranges that reflect the Topshop aesthetic and meet our customer’s needs. Creativity, collaboration and innovation sit at the heart of this role.

YOU’LL BE:

  • Researching trends across multiple platforms to drive newness for the Topshop customer.
  • Assisting Designers in researching, sketching, creating detailed CADs and building tech packs across multiple product types.
  • Supporting concept development from initial mood boards through to final samples, including silhouettes, fabric selection, print, embellishment and trims.
  • Working alongside Designers in creating embellishment artworks and supporting in all areas of design to support the design team as required.
  • Playing a key role in brainstorming and generating trend direction and seasonal stories.
  • Presenting trend research and product ideas clearly to designers, buyers, leadership teams and cross-functional partners.
  • Working closely with Far East, India and European suppliers to develop prototypes, communicate design intent and manage sample development.
  • Using relevant sales analysis and insights to help design commercially relevant, fashion-forward ranges.
  • Participating in weekly fit sessions with the Technical team, helping refine fits and create new silhouette blocks for the department.
  • Sourcing new fabrications, trims and techniques that elevate the product and reinforce Topshop’s innovative edge.
  • Partnering with buyers to build clear and cohesive ranges that drive key product messages each season.
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of brand purpose and sustainability objectives (Fashion with Integrity), seeking opportunities to use sustainable materials and circular design.
  • Acting as a positive role model, contributing to a dynamic, solution-focused and collaborative studio environment.

Qualifications

We’d love to meet, someone who has…

  • Previous experience as an Assistant Designer (or Senior Assistant Designer) within a mid to high-level fashion brand or retailer — ideally multi-product.
  • Passion for trend forecasting with the ability to translate inspiration into new product.
  • A sharp eye for detail and the ability to juggle deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong technical understanding across fabric bases and garment construction, including experience working with pattern cutters and machinists.
  • Experience working directly with mills and suppliers on fabric sourcing and product development.
  • A strong grasp of trend forecasting and the ability to translate inspiration into commercially relevant product.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, Photoshop and CAD.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
  • A commercial yet creative design handwriting that aligns with the Topshop aesthetic and customer mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with the internal team and external suppliers.
  • Confidence in presenting ideas and influencing decisions.
  • A proactive mindset, willing to contribute, learn and grow within a collaborative design team.
  • Interest in sustainable materials and processes.
