Job Description

Company Description

We're ASOS. We blend our flair for fashion with our love of cutting- edge technology, but more importantly were interested in how we can bring the best out of you.

We exist to give people the confidence to be whoever they want to be, and that goes for our people too. At ASOS, you're free to be your true self without judgment, and channel your creativity into a platform used by millions.

Job Description

The Role

As an Assistant Buyer within ASOS DESIGN Womenswear Test & React, you'll join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract, playing a key role in responding quickly to what our customer wants next. Using live trade, trend and customer insight, you'll identify opportunities, test new product and react to what's working to deliver relevant newness at pace.

Working closely with Buying, Design, Merchandising and suppliers, you'll help turn emerging trends and trading opportunities into commercial product across jersey and woven, keeping the ASOS customer at the heart of every decision.

The Team

Test & React is all about speed, newness and responding to our customer. The team uses trade performance, emerging trends and customer insight to identify opportunities quickly, test new ideas and react to winning product.

You'll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where strong product instinct and commercial judgement are key to getting the right product to our customer at the right time.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the Buyer to deliver fast-paced, trend-led product across jersey and woven, reacting quickly to customer demand and trading opportunities.
  • Reviewing trade regularly to identify winning product, emerging opportunities and areas where we need to react quickly.
  • Identifying trends early and working with Design and suppliers to translate them into relevant, commercial product at pace.
  • Testing new product opportunities and using performance and customer response to inform what we repeat, adapt or move away from.
  • Partnering with Merchandising to identify risks and opportunities and take clear trading actions.
  • Building strong supplier relationships, negotiating costs, lead times and deliveries to maximise speed and flexibility.
  • Managing the critical path and proactively removing blockers to get newness to market quickly.
  • Supporting and developing Buying Assistants while role modelling ASOS behaviours.

We believe being together in person helps us move faster, connect more deeply, and achieve more as a team. That's why our approach to working together includes spending at least 3 days a week in the office. It's a rhythm that speeds up decision-making, helps ASOSers learn from each other more quickly, and builds the kind of culture where people can grow, create and succeed.

Qualifications

We'd love to meet someone who

  • Is currently working at Assistant Buyer or Senior Assistant Buyer level within a fast-paced fashion retailer or brand.
  • Has strong jersey and woven buying experience, with great product knowledge and an understanding of how trends translate into commercial product.
  • Is highly trend-aware and passionate about identifying what's emerging and relevant for the ASOS customer.
  • Is commercially minded and confident using trade data and customer insight to make quick, informed decisions.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, reactive buying environment and is comfortable changing direction in response to trade, trends and customer demand.
  • Has strong supplier management and negotiation skills, with a good understanding of speed-to-market.
  • Is proactive, organised and confident collaborating across Buying, Design and Merchandising.
  • Demonstrates the ASOS values of Authentic, Brave, Creative and Disciplined.
