Job Description

APM Terminals

About Us

At APM Terminals, part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.

About the Role

As an IT/OT Terminal Support Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the technology systems that enable uninterrupted terminal operations. Working within the IT function, you will provide day-to-day support for both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments, ensuring stable, secure, and reliable services across terminal operations. You will collaborate with local and regional teams, business users, and external vendors to resolve incidents, maintain equipment, and support continuous operational excellence.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to support business-critical technology that powers global trade.
  • Exposure to both IT and Operational Technology environments within a world-class terminal operation.
  • A collaborative environment focused on safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunities to work closely with regional technology teams, operational stakeholders, and industry-leading vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end-user support for hardware, software, access management, cabling, and peripheral-related issues across the terminal.
  • Support and maintain OT systems including CCTV, OCR, gate kiosks, access control systems, radios, reefer monitoring solutions, and Vehicle-Mounted Terminals (VMTs).
  • Configure, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain IT assets including desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, and structured cabling.
  • Manage incidents, service requests, and changes through ServiceNow while meeting defined service levels.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot infrastructure, network connectivity, fiber, and cabling issues.
  • Coordinate and supervise external vendors performing installation, maintenance, and repair activities on-site.
  • Contribute to cybersecurity, documentation, asset management, and continuous improvement initiatives that support terminal uptime and operational reliability.

Who We Are Looking For

We recognize that experience comes in many forms. If you don’t meet every qualification, we still encourage you to apply.

  • Demonstrate a strong continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to finding smarter, safer, and more effective ways of working.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telematics, or a related technical discipline, or bring equivalent relevant experience.
  • Have at least 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting IT infrastructure, end-user technologies, and systems administration in a medium-to-large operational environment.
  • Bring experience supporting operational or industrial technologies such as CCTV, access control systems, VMTs, OCR solutions, radios, or other field-based technologies.
  • Possess strong troubleshooting skills across Windows environments, networking fundamentals, structured cabling, and endpoint technologies.
  • Have experience working within ITSM/ITIL service management processes and tools.
  • Communicate effectively in Spanish and English while collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Be comfortable working independently in an industrial environment while supporting business-critical operations.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Onsite
Location: Moín, Limón, Costa Rica
Work Schedule: Rotating two-shift day pattern (no night or weekend shifts)
On-Call Requirement: Participation in an on-call rotation is required to support critical incidents and maintenance activities outside standard working hours.
