Job Description

APM Terminals

As a Capex Controller at APM Terminals, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of high-impact infrastructure projects that enable global trade. You will partner closely with project teams and senior stakeholders to oversee capital investments end-to-end—driving accurate budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial governance.

This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys working at the intersection of project execution, financial control, and continuous improvement, and who wants to see their work directly influence long-term value creation across our terminals.

Appetizer

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be apart of our journey.

What We Can Offer

At APMT Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

• Opportunity to contribute to high-impact capital projects that create long-term value and measurable return on investment
• Exposure to senior stakeholders and cross-functional project teams in a global, fast-paced environment
• A culture that supports work-life balance through clear planning, structured governance, and predictable project rhythms
• Continuous professional development through hands-on project experience and structured learning opportunities

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial governance of capital investment projects, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, cash flow planning, and reporting
• Develop and manage project cash flow forecasts using inputs from project teams, contract terms, and approved investment plans
• Track and report actual project investment against budget, ensuring data accuracy, visibility, and timely financial insights
• Ensure compliance with APM Terminals finance policies, CFO guidelines, concession agreements, and shareholder reporting requirements
• Review capitalization of fixed assets, accruals, supplier invoices, and payment schedules in collaboration with Accounting and Asset Delivery teams
• Support change management by evaluating financial impact of scope or budget changes and preparing business cases and scenario analyses
• Contribute to risk management activities by supporting identification, quantification, and tracking of project-related financial risks

What We Are Looking For

Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement – someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably supporting project implementation or capital investment environments
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards with demonstrated experience in capitalization and project accounting
• Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, identify deviations, and provide clear, fact-based recommendations
• Effective communicator who collaborates well with cross-functional teams and can engage confidently with senior stakeholders
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with discretion and confidentiality

Safety & Values

Safety reflects APM Terminals’ core values. We promote constant care throughout all our operational activities, strive for higher standards through innovation, and actively coach our teams to support a safe working environment across all areas of the organization. You will be expected to embed safety and governance thinking into financial decision-making and daily project support.
