We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our highly valued inhouse legal team as a qualified Litigation Legal Executive. You would be joining a 20 strong legal team whose working philosophy is “your problem, our problem, no problem” and where we are constantly striving for high performance. This new role is open to all suitably qualified candidates and likely to suit an individual who has a strong track record in civil commercial debt recovery.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Litigation Legal Executive, you will be primarily responsible for the recovery of costs relating to damage to our assets by third parties through legal proceedings. You will have a portfolio of claims which you will need to prioritise, assess the credibility of evidence, identify those to progress through to judgment and attending court hearings where necessary. You will play a key part in helping the business deliver on its zero pollutions strategy, as well as its wider purpose and will provide legal guidance on policy and processes.

You will have the support of the wider litigation team who are experienced and have a firm understanding of Anglian Water and the regulatory environment in which it operates.

What does it take to be successful?

  • A qualified legal executive with significant relevant litigation experience in both tortious and contractual claims

  • Familiarity of country court proceedings and use of the Civil Procedure Rules

  • Knowledge and experience of debt recovery work

  • Be able to work autonomously, not be afraid to have difficult conversations with customers/defendants and confident in advocacy

  • Strong team player with the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of business colleagues with a firm emphasis on stake holder engagement and management.

  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills

  • IT literate and confident in using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint

  • Full Driving Licence and access to vehicle
