Location: Grafham Water

Permanent / Full Time

Double-matched pension

Life assurance at 8 times salary

This role does work shift patterns, with longer days during the spring/summer months and shorter days over the autumn and winter months

Are you passionate about the countryside, fisheries and delivering unforgettable visitor experiences? Do you thrive in a leadership role where no two days are the same? If so, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

We're looking for an exceptional Head Ranger to take the lead at Grafham Water Park, one of the regions premier outdoor recreation destinations and home to an internationally recognised trout and predator fishery.

As Head Ranger, you'll be at the heart of the park's operation, leading a dedicated team of Rangers, shaping the visitor experience, and helping to protect and enhance this stunning environment, its facilities and internationally renowned fishery for generations to come.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Confidently leading a professional team of Rangers over a 7 day a week operation.
  • Managing a renowned fishery, including fish stocking, boat fleet management, catch analysis, competitions, and promotion.
  • You will be the point of contact for fishing clubs and match organisers.
  • Inspiring and coaching a team of Rangers, volunteers and fishery bailiffs. Managing workload, task allocation and safety standards in line with our safety systems.
  • Contributing to the delivery of exciting events and presentation standards that attract visitors and grow the park's reputation.
  • Maintaining high-quality facilities, landscapes and infrastructure.
  • Driving exceptional customer service and ensuring the highest health and safety standards.
  • Managing budgets and improvement schemes that make a visible difference.
  • Utilising, maintaining and monitoring the performance of infrastructure such as car park management systems, booking systems and safety reporting systems.
  • You will be a strong communicator including communicating with stakeholders, visitors and wider team members.

What We're Looking For

You'll bring experience and qualifications in countryside management skills, practical facilities management in addition to knowledge of rural leisure, and/or fisheries management. Most importantly you will lead from the front with a can do, practical approach and a passion for delivering the very best experience to our visitors.

This position involves working weekends and evenings on a rota basis. Basic knowledge and ability to use Microsoft applications is required in addition to a full driving licence.

Why Join Us?

This isn't just another management role—it's an opportunity to shape the future of one of the region's most celebrated outdoor destinations.

At Anglian Water, you'll be part of a business that genuinely cares about people, communities and the environment. Through our Love Every Drop philosophy, we work together to create sustainable places where wildlife and people can thrive.

As a valued member of the team, you are entitled to these fantastic benefits:

  • Discounts on activities and cafés at our Water Parks, as well as free parking.

  • Personal private healthcare

  • Life cover (up to 8 x salary)

  • Personal accident cover (up to 5 x salary)

  • 25 days annual leave – rising with length of service and the ability to buy more

  • Excellent family friendly policies, such as 26 weeks full pay for maternity / adoption leave, as well as 4 weeks paternity / partner pay. Opportunity for shared parental pay.

  • Bonus scheme

  • Flexible benefits to support your wellbeing and lifestyle.
